It's a unque crownd but the morning are also great. I also take it that you went to Manuels in East LA for their burritos. Then try the Stinking Rose on La Cienega, it's all garliclicky, if that's a word. Then try Casablanca in Venice, it seems Spanish and they'll make home made flour tortillas right in front of you.
Enoy your stay

Bestia in DTLA, Pistola on 3rd, Son of a Gun on 3rd, and anything food critic Jonathan Gold suggests.

Out of his top 101, the following restaurants really stood out for me (based on food only).

Mozzaplex (great meats at chi SPACCA)
Ink
n/naka
Jitlada (very spicy)
Hinoki and the Bird
Angelini Osteria
Din Tai Fung (long line)

I love octopus but preferred mine simmered and tender like they do at Taverna Tony in Malibu

I will second Jitlada as being both adventurous as well as spicy.

While not "adventurous" per se, I think Adana in Glendale/Burbank is "different" and very good.  It is Armenian.

Then there are a ton of Chinese restaurants in the SGV that out out a lot of different foods that may or may not be  adventurous for you.

Very authentic. They use Charcoal which adds amazing flavor.
No web site. You can find it on Yelp.
Enjoy.
