Its not something that gets talked about much except when some news story comes out, but I haven't known of anyone in the hobby who got an STD. Granted, we're a pretty anonymous group, but based upon how many of us participate in "risky" behavior one would suspect we'd see stds on an epidemic level. We don't... at least in the USA.
I think most providers who participate on these boards are gfe, so it would seem that you aren't conserned either?
I may be naive, but have hobbies over ten years and don't think the risks are as big as some groups and people make them out to be. There's a risk you get HIV from a blood transfusion in a hospital. I think the hobby has just about as much risk as sex in the civie community. And I think its a low risk in both. Granted, if you're in that low percent that gets something it probably feels pretty awful.

I did get oral herpes and I know when and how I got it. It was from performing DATY on a provider with a lot of reviews. The pussy smelled and tasted awful. Rinsing didn't help. Six hours later I had sores and pain in my mouth from the initial herpes infection. That sucked because I never had anything before that. I got tested and it was confirmed.

I think this is because of the lack of fear. Magic Johnson (20+ years since his diagnosis) and others have shown the world that with the proper medicine you can live with HIV. Thanks for the response, I agree that good screening probably helps. Guys who have diseases are probably less likely to go through the "hassel" of getting screened. Vanica sent me a great pm explaining why oral is much safer and it makes sense. The saliva protects us from things more than vaginal juice. Plus a normal healthy mouth has good seals to keep the germs out. More risk of bacteria and viruses through the eyes, anus, and penis/pussy.

This is obviously a major concern for all hobbyists and providers (as it should be), but there's not a lot of good, reliable information out there regarding STDs from covered fs, bbbj, dfk and daty. I always thoughts someone should do a study of participants on this board who only engage in these activities to see how risky oral sex really is. So an informal survey of providers and hobbyists seems like a good idea. So pick an alias (or not) and chime in. Here's my story.
I've been hobbying on and off for about 15 years. Over the 15 years, my guess is that I've had over 100 gfe encounters, with perhaps 30-40 different providers (most of whom are or were well reviewed, well respected ladies in LA). I've always tested negative for all STDs other than oral herpes (HSV 1) -- the one that 50-80% of the population is supposed to have. My last outbreak of cold sores on my lips was in my early 20s, well before I started hobbying, so hobbying was not the cause. I had more unprotected civvie sex in my 20s than I should have, but then that was the early 1980s when that was probably more common. None of this means gfe sex as we define it on this board (covered fs, but otherwise uncovered) is risk free, but it's probably not as risky as some public health websites would have you believe.
By the way, the best source I've seen online on this is www.medhelp.org (click on STD in the Expert Forum section). The two doctors who answer questions there are internationally recognized experts on STDs. Most of the questions they get are about STDs from oral sex, and these docs just answer the questions based on the available evidence. It's quite refreshing, actually.
Probably this is what has been going on. On occasion a lady would cancel an appointment because she said she got sick, got a cold or whatever. I even drove out an hour and got within the block of a provider location within 10 minutes. I was morning, and the provider responded to my phone call and said she had to cancel because she woke up sick and she did sound kind of in pain.

But of course she probably got it from some other client doing DATY. I got tested, and thankfully (or not) that's all I have. The risk is worse, because a greater diversity of both clients and providers are networked rather than regular civvie dating.
