Do alot of you go out of town for the holidays? I find that's a bit quiet this time of year :) On another note who's watching the fight tonight ?!?!

I stay in town and avoid all the manicy people. And, I look forward to watching the fight tonight. I hope we are rooting for the same guys!  ;)

I know I have a minority opinion, but I totally agree with Jim Murray (A highly respected LA Times sportswriter) who once devoted an entire column to the "sport" of boxing/fighting and called it barbaric.  Just because it's done in a ring doesn't change the simple fact that the contestants' objective is to beat his/her opponent up.  The best "win" is a knockout.  Ridiculous!  Not to mention possible brain damage.   Let the flaming begin.

I forgot to conclude my post with the question, agree? Disagree?

Unless you've trained or participated in combat related sports, you really wouldn't understand.  To call it barbaric is short sighted.

Agreed.

(Am trained in combat arts. Not particularly proud of that, just stating it for the benefit of another poster who seems to think that somehow that makes one appreciate beating up another human being for sport and entertainment. With the occasional kill thrown in for bad measure.)

I've been involved with one type or another since I was 4. I've enjoyed every aspect of it. I've appreciated it even more when it was needed in real life, when all other options were exhausted.

What you call beating each other up for sport and entertainment, is short sighted.

I'll respect your opinion, just like I have mine.

That trailer was about animals.  This thread is about human beings beating each other up.  I disagree that one human being can artistically beat up another.

Fights during a hockey game many times last longer than that.
