Worst Case Scenario

I've been browsing the Legal Corner forum but haven't found the answer to this question.  Please forgive me if this has been asked and answered before.

Worst case scenario... I visit a provider and get busted.  What is the typical punishment?  Fine?  Prison time?  Sex offender registry?

I live in Boston.

Chapter 272: Section 53A. Engaging in sexual conduct for a fee; engaging in sexual conduct with child under age 14 for a fee; penalties

Section 53A. (a) Whoever engages, agrees to engage, or offers to engage in sexual conduct with another person in return for a fee, or whoever pays, agrees to pay, or offers to pay another person to engage in sexual conduct, or to agree to engage in sexual conduct with another natural person, shall be punished by imprisonment in the house of correction for not more than 1 year or by a fine of not more than $500 or by both such imprisonment and fine, whether such sexual conduct occurs or not.

Massachusetts General Law chapter 6, section 178C lists the offenses which require sex offender registration and prostitution does not appear to be one of them.

Edit: I should clarify that the 1 year in jail is the maximum provided by law. It's not necessarily what is typical. You'll need to ask a Boston-area criminal lawyer for that.

I'm not even going to ask why they included the phrase "natural person".
