Has anyone had actual experience beating photo evidence tickets in Beverly Hills or L.A. area. I understand most of these are issued for not stopping when making a right turn at a traffic light. Am em-bare-assed escort wants to know some real life experiences with this short cut method of raising money for city hall. It is close to 500 smackers for this transgression that is a questionably valid enforcement system.
As a motorcyclist, my fellow riders and I are always targeted by cops. Several of my friends have beaten tickets by following the recommendations on this site, though none of the violations were traffic cameras. They do have a specific section on traffic cameras, however, so it's worth a look.
Red light cameras should be banned, IMO, and fortunately a lot of municipalities are starting to agree and take them out of service. City councils were so busy cumming in their pants at all the money they'd make when Lockheed and others pitched the systems to them that they didn't think about much else. Everyone should always fight a ticket from a red light camera.
I bout sh*t myself the first time it went off, no knowing what that new tone was... Joke was on me. Learn to properly stop for "Right turn on Red.... after stop". Like the law requires.
By all means fight these tickets if you must. BTW, if you are caught in an intersection, because of traffic, you have the right to continue, not stop blocking the intersection. Some of these intersections have inadquate yellows. Also grounds for dismissal. Drive safe, H
...when its contract with the camera provider expired. It turns out that the fine was 'voluntary' since no action was taken by the city to collect if the violator did not pay. Only about half the tickets were being paid and the city was losing $1.5 million a year.
(note: this is a CA attorney but I am not from CA) Stated that the argument he used was that the officer signing off on the ticket must attest under penalty of perjury that, upon information and belief, the person in the picture is the person on the vehicle registration. If someone else happened to be driving, you can bring up the fact that these types of situations qualify for a RICO action.
If I recall, very recently the city of L.A. decided to abandon its camera-ticket policy. Those who were ticketed can challenge them and get them dismissed. Don't know about BH.
