A little off topic but I need some help concerning a denied vacation Visa!!!

There are people who end up on no-fly lists just because they were born on the same day and with the same name as someone else that the Feds have an eye on.

They never give reasons because they are afraid of evil-doers getting information on their screening methods.

If it was a problem with the US government, I suppose a US lawyer might be able to do something, or perhaps even your congressman.

But with a foreign country, I'm not sure what can be done except to write to the local consul or the ambassador and hope that someone takes pity on you and gets it squared away.

By the way, you didn't stiff a waiter at an Outback, did you?

(still not a lawyer)

Do you have a criminal record or any records that might give them reason to think this was other than a holiday?

Back when I was traveling abroad frequently, I used to get held up at customs and immigration every time I re-ntered the country.  This went on for several years until I finally got an agent to tell me that I had the exact same name and exact birthday as some guy in Texas (I live in CA) that was wanted for what she described as "some pretty bad stuff."

She told me there was only one difference between us in her database, but wouldn't elaborate.  It was probably something like I have blue eyes and he had brown eyes.  But the fact that you can be come that close to being mistaken for a felon wanted by the FBI was rather chilling to me.

If I'd been stopped by local police for some reason, I might have been arrested and detained until they could sort it all out.  This stuff is scary, to be sure, and is just getting worse with all the identity theft going on these days.

Maybe one of the attorneys on this board can tell you how to go about rectifying the situation.  Best of luck to you.

Didn't stiff the waiter but this is BS... The embassy is not helpful so I am trying to figure out other outlets to figure the situation out. :(

He mentions that of the ten most poisonous snakes in the world, Australia is home to eight of them, and they are among the least lethal animals on that continent.  (Jelly fish and crocodiles exact far more deaths.)

Austrailia is also the only country other than Japan to have been A bombed! (It's so large, no one even knew it for years.  Some cult is expected to have been the culpret.)

So, fret not and enjoy a vacation elsewhere.

Thanks also for sharing this information.  It's interesting to know.

One more thing you might do is to write to the Greek government and complain about the policy and ask Greece to implement a reciprocal policy towards Australia.

to the south, the rest of the world has no problem telling people they're not welcome in their country.  Yet, nobody says one negative word about them.

If you want to waste the next five years of your life dealing with bureaucrats, try moving to New Zealand and let the fun begin.

This world is better off for people like you.

What city are you located in if I might ask?  I didn't see it listed on your site.

that may be the cause of Aussie refusal. It is a small country and does not encourage escorts from foreign lands.  I have heard of girls who advertised Aussie escort trips having the same problem who ended up canceling.
The visa problem is a common one. Cat Stevens, Snoop Dog, a lot of Thai boys and girls, wife and children of those who hold visas and others have been refused. Money is the first thing they look at, next health, HIV status, Criminal Record and Character. Sounds like an application to be the Queen of the Rose Parade. Aussies thirty or forty-five years or so back did not allow blacks or Asians to immigrate so what do you expect from a country founded on prison immigration? Good luck, if refused there are time limits on re-application. The whole thing is kind of complex an mysterious to deal with, you may need a pro to guide you, on the other hand why not pick another country?

You didn't happen to use your hobby number or email on the application did you? I had read a while back that even Martha Stewart can't enter England for fun or work because of the trouble she got into. Just in case there is some legal typo on your application that is preventing you from going, there are several countries and I can't remember where I saw this that you can enter no matter what. It's none of the good ones though like England, Australia, France, Germany, Greece, Canada or Ireland.

Okay, no this is not an escort trip just personal vacation.  No I didn't use my hobby number or email.  I finish school in a week and wanted to reward myself for all the years of hard work to encourage myself for the next two to get my master's......
SO I have it figured out why I got denied!  I have duel citizenship and two passports. US and Greece.  Usually it is not a big deal, extra paperwork and an extra $100 Visa application fee.  Australia is different.  They have a policy called "the White Australian Policy," yes it's a real policy and very racist!  Not even sure I want to go there now!  Here is the most non-technical story on it so everybody can comprehend: http://www.wsws.org/articles/1999/jan1999/immi-j20.shtml....  Didn't say that to be rude but some of the articles I had to have my attorney translate into normal English, lol!
Back to the point, Greece is on a blacklist so that is why I am having a problem.  Even though I am an American citizen, I still have a Greek passport.  They are scared I may apply to refugee status, lol.  Why in the world would anybody more to Australia?  I can use all the water I want here in the states!!!  For those of you who don't know they have water restrictions in Australia!  I like shower's and water!  Lot's of water!!!  LOL!!
So maybe 5 days in Cape Town after a day in Nigeria?

Lol, I am as white as it gets!!! Extra pale white!! My great-grandparents raised me and they were from Greece so I have had duel citizenship since I was 2yrs old, so we could visit regularly with no issues.  Now that I am an adult, unless going to Europe, it seems to be a hassle!  Not fair!
Oh yes, water restrictions.  They have water systems that catch rain and filter it so they can have extra water at their homes.  And they think I want to live there, no thanks!!!!!  I like the good ol USA.

Well, shoot between the water and the snakes I may be safer and more comfortable in North Korea, LOL!  They would at least let me in, just not let me out!! LOL!!

I did contact the President and Prime Minister of Greece, not so sure why we have both there but we do! Hopefully they will do something against that racist country!

At 1st i just wanted to share to get some advise and help because I was mad as mad gets!  Now I want the world to know about their policies!!  I have contacted NYTimes and several other news sources to have my story published!  I will even pay to publish it!  Just makes me mad! Looser's!! Lol!!

After this, I am not even sure I will pass the kangaroo's at the zoo!!

It all relates back to Britain and when they had control over everybody before WWII before Australia became an independent territory.  Seems that most of the countries that are on the blacklist were also ran by Britain.  All a bunch of BS if you ask me... SO Cape Town! They welcome all people!

You do understand that the White Australia Policy was actually done away with in 1973?  Not sure that I buy the you've been given.
