I think you have summed things up very nicely. I also think your efforts and contributions are highly valued here: I know I appreciate it. I like to think that the vast majority of us who identify with your philosophy are ahead of our time, possibly more spiritually and maybe intellectually advanced than our counterparts. I don't know. The basic human freedoms that you speak of are too obvious and important to be ignored. It's sad to know that our government hires people to strike down and deny us our human rights. Happy New Year.
What are we doing here---An installment of the Hobbyist's Philosophy as viewed from the Legal Corner
What are we doing here spending valuable time on an Internet web sit when we could be spending the time in the arms of our paramours? Well, as Ronnie used to say when he needed pause to think, there are a few good reasons.
1. We expect that anyone who follows this site has an interest in sex, in all it’s various mystical magical permutations, and that we all find sexual activity to be stimulating, entertaining and healthful. (Or as my petite blond French mistress used to say, after we both had climaxed, when I was a sapling of a youth in my mid twenties and she was a bit older, as she straddled me from above, nude and asked for a cigarette, “It is good for the nerves”).
2. Almost every one who follows this site believes that any woman or man, as well as transgendered and transsexual individuals, have the right to sell their sexual services should they choose to do so.
3. There is an implicit understanding that sex workers have the right to be free and independent and never forced by third parties to have sex with others.
4. Sex workers have the right to use agents or agencies to increase their economic earnings and to advertise discretely in various medias. Indiscreet nude or pornographic ads should be designed to exclude their being viewed by minors.
5. Our site, The Erotic Review, which includes various formats for discussion, has a right to exist, based on freedom of thought and speech and action.
6. The basis for this site had origin in reviews that have become a sexual consumer’s digest dealing with who and where sex workers are, and an attempt to measure their talents and physical attributes. Because one man’s nirvana may be Courtney Love and another’s Billie Holiday, these reviews are cataloged with the assumption that the majority of these reviews will reveal the truth about the services of each and every subject. Not every review is accurate on all points and subjects change through time.
7. Ethical requirements: Reviewers must be fair and objective. When in doubt, be quiet. A scientific approach is required to such analysis and non-scientists should strive to overcome prejudices and apply scientific method. Reviews should be honest and truthful. No subject should compensate a reviewer in any way. No reviewer should seek compensation in any way from a subject nor promise a good review in exchange for services or financial compensation.
8. The Legal Corner of the ER site should at all times be informative so that hobbyists are aware of the legal problems that exist in countries or states where prostitution is not permitted. A hobbyist should be prepared to confront or interact with law enforcement with the advantages of knowing what the law is and what practices the police are permitted or prohibited from practicing. They should also have the advantage of the shared knowledge that experience has provided others.
9. The moderator of the Legal Corner has the responsibility to add to the information that hobbyists provide. He must endeavor to protect said hobbyists and sex workers by informing them (without interfering in legitimate law enforcement efforts) of traps, pitfalls and law enforcement attempts to entrap or snare them as they seek their sexual gratification. This entails revealing what is public knowledge about police efforts to curtail escorts or prostitution as well as mundane legal issues from landlord tenant to criminal offenses and procedures.
PS --A note from the Beagle----Recently two out of five hundred readers were critical of this moderator’s attempt to reveal published accounts that were already public knowledge and previously published police proclamations, in Montgomery county area (and District of Columbia) that were aimed to curtail such activities by linking them to sex trafficking. Although one criticism seems to have been traced to that same police department with veiled threats included, I will not be deterred from exercising my legal and lawful rights as a journalist and as a supporter of sex workers and hobbyists alike
I think you have summed things up very nicely. I also think your efforts and contributions are highly valued here: I know I appreciate it.
