I have many times been in a situation where I go from exam room with the Dr wanting test ASAP to reception who wants to schedule a month out. You have to take the bull by the horns and be responsible for making sure you get the health care you need. Doctors don run their offices
and I have found that office managers place the doctors on a pedestal out of reach.
I was Ice climbing when I had my Heart attack and Ice climbing a week after. A threesome might have killed me too.
The guy must gone through a real heavenly experience. ![]()
we have become. Not only the people responsible for filing and representing the plantifs in the the lawsuit but the members of the jury for allowing this stupidity to continue. The entitlement mentality lives on proud and strong in Georgia. I hope the Dr. and the medical facility appeal. I'd love to see the ruling overturned and them awarded damages/expenses.
As Homer Simpson would say. This just "Grinds My Gears!"
If the man had died while mowing his lawn or loading trucks at work, or at some other mudane but common activity, would you still be of the same attitude?
why or why not?
Is it the fact that they man was engaged in a legal but "imnmoral" sexual activity?
And what if it occured while having sex with his wife?
Just curious.
Regardless of what he was doing, how can you prove that he would have not done it if a doctor told him not to? How did they prove the doctor really didn't tell him not to? The culture of lack of individual responsibility has destroyed our nation, and also happens to result in the laws that make consenting behaviors that have no impact on anyone else illegal.
Yes, I'd still be upset (and amazed).
Quote "The attending cardiologist, Dr. Sreenivasulu Gangasani, scheduled a stress test for eight days later, but failed to inform the patient to stop all physical activity until the test was completed," End Quote
I've hear about restricting activity but never stopping activity. Could he have died from walking up a flight of stairs? Whatever activity he was involved in makes no difference.
8 days to get a stress test scheduled is extremely fast. At least in my area. The patient wasn't in cardiac distress when he was with the doctor or he would have been directed to an emergency room. Far as I can tell, he was concerned about symptoms. There was nothing to indicate failure was iminent. High blood pressure? Most Americans have it to some degree. In danger of having clogged arteries? Blood tests for cholesterol don't have instantaneous results. Medical history is the responsibility of both parties. If you don't give the physician the clues he won't ask the right questions.
If he had never gone to the Dr. what would the award be? Seems like the family and the lawyers are looking for a way to profit from the situation. I have sympathy for the family's loss but really have a hard time believing there should be financial compensation in this case.
The report (at least to me) showed no reason the case should have ever gone to jury. But then, I'm sure all the facts weren't reported and I'm no lawyer.
made it to the newspaper, is because of the sex angle, which is quite irrelevant to the case as you point out - his heart attack could have been triggered by any number of normal physical tasks.
In a way, it's a backhanded attack on sexuality.
As for the issue of abusing the legal system, that's certainly a strong probablity, but unfortunately, the landscape is littered with these, and their shock value has waned.

A late posting to this thread since it's so amusing and give so much credence to Darwinism. One idiot who knew he had physical issues, whether his doctor (who's probably just following a manual anyways) told him to curtail his activities or not, is gone. Unfortunately, don't know about the genes that are being passed on. As for the jury, well, some of them may be culled soon too. However, they may be a smart jury, and passed their verdict to set a precedence for future cases, where they can get a share of the pie.
