I got caught on an outcall to hotel by cook county sheriff, from craigslist. My ad had my name, rates, and phone number plus a disclaimer. The guy had an out of town number and ID I met him in the bar we had a drink, as we were walking to room I was grabbed by an officer. No money changed hands I was fully dressed the whole time and I never discussed any service other than 600 for 2 hours. 25 girls were arrested and charged. They said I agreed to vaginal, oral and anal sex (lie) they put the same thing on all the reports. I was hoping someone knew a lawyer with experience in these matters. please help!

I am very sorry to hear that you got arrested. I have heard good things about PrePaid Legal and I am currently subscribing to it. I think it is like a network of lawyers where if your attorney cannot help you, they will refer you to an appropriate attorney in that area and in that field.
Here is the link to the website. Go through it and see if it is worth your while....

Definitely use a lawyer to represent you. Good luck!!!!!

John Klunk, you should be able to get his number by googling him if you can't IM me and I will get it for you.

Do you have ANY priors (ANYTHING you've been arrested for?).

If no,
Find a good criminal defense attorney.
Start with the DUI/DWI type attorneys to see if they might handle a case like yours.
Ask him/her how many cases they've won.
How often they go to trial (you want a LOW number).
How often they plead out?
(might plead it out to disorderly conduct,etc.).
I don't what is the “least” offensive, however you want this plead out to whatever is lowest crime.

You DO NOT want a jury trial or trial by judge. (think about it. Everybody in America wants to do the LEAST amount of work possible, attorneys and judges are no different).

It does nothing but piss off Judges, Prosecuting Attorneys, etc. If you're found guilty, they are much more likely to be tough on you because of this (and to prove a point to the rest of the public they are “doing their jobs”---you'll be made an example of, a sitting duck, which is NOT GOOD!.

It's gonna cost you.

Probably  $5000 for the defense (just an estimate based on what I know DUI defense is).

The point is, you want a defense attorney that KNOWS (personally) the prosecuting attorney.
Any "good" Defense attorney worth their salt will know the PA.

Despite what we're taught to believe in Elementary school, the Justice system IS NOT “equal” it's all about who you know.

Prosecuting Attorneys are “graded” on convictions. Going alone, you are a sitting duck that helps him pad his resume for his next promotion /raise.

WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES
(a) try to do this alone
(b) believe that because you are a sweet/innocent person that you have the ability to go in there an negotiate on your own behalf.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES do you want on your record anything to do with “prostitution”.

The Police Force gets off on these kinds of bust (I'm sure yours made the news, right?). Because it looks like they are doing their jobs. It's an easy way to get “press” for a job well done.

At the end of the day (as long as you were “cooperative” when arrested—i.e. You did not insult the cops, were not vulgar, etc. They don't want to trash your “file” anymore than you do. They're  human).

BUT YOU'VE GOT TO FIGHT THIS!!! (and pay the ring leaders).

P.S.

Go here to find a lawyer.
It's the "trusted" Yellow Pages of Lawyers.

With the current climate you have to screen all your clients.

Here I have provided you with a link to an attorney referral service in Illinois.

I am relieved the police protected me and others from you.  I might have met you, been enchanted, and spent a lovely few hours with you.  I would have enjoyed myself immensely mentally, psychologically, and --of course-- physically.  I would have paid you for the wonderful service you rendered to me, a service that took physical and mental abilities and skill and humanity.  You would have earned an agreed upon fee, a fee satisfactory to you in the best private enterprise tradition.  How horrible.
Will anyone have the courage one day to state publicly how insane this is that you and been placed in this position and I have been deprived of the chance to meet you.  I am so sorry.

A friend of mine was busted about 2 years ago, and when she walked into the room, immediately the guy took out money and started counting it, which made her pick up her bag and walk out. The cops were right outside the hotel room.

Although she didn't even touch the money, she was still busted. Know why? The word "Intent".

Thankfully, she didn't do jail time, but had to appear in court and pay a fine. She also had 6 months probation.

Her record says "sex offender". But from what my understanding is, is that the only time her criminal record will come up, is if she applies for a gov't job, and or gets stopped by the police again, etc. But, they cannot use that against her again, if for a different offense, such as getting stopped for passing through a red light.

I know she went through alot of turmoil, when it had happened, and she immediately retired and took off her ads.

Like everyone says, get a good lawyer! I wouldn't even think about taking it to trial. Also, you may want to take off the site, until everything has been settled and or either change your website address, including blocking off your face w/different pictures. Maybe even a new name.

I am sorry to hear that this has happened to you, and I wish you the very best. We all hope to hear a positive outcome out of this for you.

Good luck and take care.

Well , we don't know all the details of the case - so saying "You don't want to go to trail" is  not always true!! If cops have holes in their case - You may bully them to drop the case - by making them belive that You're ready to go all the way.
If you'd look at convictions for that "crime" - I bet 99.9% - never goes to trail - ends up with pleas-and most of them with good reason.
YOU MUST hire an attorney - and a good one. Interviev whole bunch of them (You'd be surprised how many morons have license - bar in illinois is easy) Than follow his advice !
If you want PM me - depending on court district i may know right guy1

I'm a lawyer in Chicago, but I am not involved in criminal stuff and don't have referrals. But I'll give you and everyone in your situation this advice, which Bodek just alluded to: MAKE SURE YOUR LAWYER IS EXPERIENCED IN THE COURT YOU'LL BE IN. As someone mentioned earlier, a defense attorney who is friendly with the state's attorney and/or the judge assigned to the case (whether or not it goes all the way to trial) is worth his or her weight in gold in matters like this, and will be worth whatever you pay.

Most criminal defense firms are going to specialize in exactly that more than anything else, but make sure. Furthermore, remember that EVERYONE pleads, and the reason for this is because the states attorney needs convictions and as close to a perfect record as possible. A plea is a conviction but if it is to something really minor that's not going to be a huge problem. Listen to your lawyer but do be firm about not pleading to anything relating to prostitution, because you pretty much will need a new line of work after that. Priors are what really kill you in this type of shit because a prosecutor is a lot less likely to offer you a good deal if you have them: don't make his job easy.
