Doesn't this really promote using a pre-paid phone to hobby with? From what I read and understand, the ledger is only names and phone numbers. The agency apparently didn't ask for any other personal information. They didn't do a ton of screening. If that is true, then you would just have to pitch your hobby phone in the trash leaving them with only a name. That takes away almost all of your risk assuming you didn't use email. They would have no way to contact you.
I was always told that a hobby phone only helps hide it from a wife or SO. I guess this proves that there could be a legal reason to use a hobby phone.
On the email side, is there a way to set up an email account that can't be traced back to you? I assume that if you check it from your phone or personal computer that it can always come back to you correct?
They offer accounts that allow you turn off the sending of your IP in the email heading. You can also opt to have deleted messages unrecoverable by anybody. Non-US servers and emails between SFM users are encrypted.
Here is the updated news story about the bust. It is the comments made afterwards that is interesting - obviously someone VERY close to the organization makes some comments.
