Why are there never reviews or posts that read "I went to such-and-such provider and it was a police sting and I got caught - thus, don't go to that provider..." ??

Are arrested johns sworn to secrecy?  Are they just too embarrassed to discuss this?

Just curious.

Thanks

Publicizing such a situation does two things: (1) it can be seen by the police as interference in an ongoing investigation, a chargable offense, and (2) it clearly identifies you as a member of that small group of people who have direct personal knowledge of the activities and on whom the cops have all important personal info such as where you live, making it a slam-dunk for them to locate you and hit you with the interference charge.  Not to mention that it could theoretically be used as proof of your guilt on the original charge.

But let's face it: unless there's a serious felony charge involved (minor child involved, Mann Act violation, RICO, etc.) as well, such efforts at pursuit on a misdemeanor violation would be very rare - the cops and prosecutors have better things to do with their time, and are only interested in what their lazy asses can get done the easiest.  The real reason most men don't publicize their busts is because of the personal embarassment - they don't want the world to know that they were dumb enough to get caught.

Several years ago, in another state far away, I was that dumb.  I laugh about it now, but at the time, I wasn't smiling... and I would never have admitted it on a board like this.

Hazel makes good points. There are work arounds however such as setting up a new account and posting the info under that new account from a public such as a library in another city. If a person travels routinely for business thats no big deal.

I think LE doesn't run ad stings often enough to make this a real issue. Of course I may be wrong.

As far as LE coming after a hobbyist for putting this kind of info out there the likelihood of them successfully proving that allegation if the hobbyist has a decent trial litigator is about as certain as any of us winning the lotto this week.
