I was thinking about calling  IA & reporting the Cop & all the illegal & misconduct the cop did. Can I get into trouble, Can they hurt me?

Internal Affairs is the PD's way of "self-policing" - that is, keeping the lid on police misconduct to the greatest extent possible.  After all, if they don't say they're doing it, then some non-police agency (that the police have no control over) will be set up to do it.  That being the case, by complaining to IA, you are just making absolutely sure that you come up on their (i.e. the police's) radar, which is something no sane person should want to do.

I will say this- it depends on the department.  Some of them can be very corrupt.  But if it's a generally clean town- yes the cop will get it big trouble if it can be substantiated.  I have a few acquaintances that are Leo's and they tell me they get suspended on accusations alone- even if a formal report was not taken.  They tell me many times they feel they are guilty until proven innocent. To them it sounds like its not the good old boys club it use to be. IA is there to do a job and the departments don't want to get sued with liability issues.

My only concern is how wrapped up do you want to get into this.  Do you have solid evidence?  Do you have to get involved in this for him to be found guilty of these crimes?  My thoughts- if he is really this bad- you owe it to the community to kick his ass off the force.  No town needs someone like that in their community. To mea bad cop is worse then the criminal.  But if there is any risk of it coming back to you- I would avoid it.  A simple call from a payphone or a letter in the mail may just be enough to get someone's attention.  Vengenance never seems to get you anywhere in life- if that is your reaons then I would not do it as it always seems to come back full circle.
