Do research on the provider you are interested in to see that she has been around for a while and has a fair number of good reviews and a good reputation.  Become a VIP member so that you can write to other hobbyist and ask about the gal.  Stay up on the local boards here to learn about places where LE is focusing activity (e.g. certain hotels.)

Be discreet in all your actions.  For example, don't go into a hotel lobby and make a loud cell phone call to the woman upstairs announcing your intentions.  Don't have a big wad of cash in your hand.  Don't mention any specific sexual activites in any emails or phone calls.

Follow this advance and you should be fine.

Do your homework and do it seriously. Do not go for the easy and cheap, because those can be traps. Go for a reputable one who has been around for more than 3 years, at least. In other words, do your homework as if your life depends of it. Other than that, have fun.

The list of how not to get busted is probably just as long as the list of stupid actions that can get you busted.  There are many posts on this topic throughout the “legal Corner” section here on TER.  I suggest you review these past posts.  There is some good information on this topic already posted, but I suppose a little more never hurts.  

The laws for prostitution are not the same from state to state.  As long as you stay away from child porn and underage providers, you are dealing with state law and not federal law, thus you only have state, county, and local cops to worry about.

Most police departments do not have large vice units.  It is actually one of the smaller units in any major police departments, and all small, and the majority of medium sized cop shops, do not have one at all.  The amount of energy LE puts into vice enforcement is minimal, but they can still nab you if you are careless or stupid.

Go find your states “criminal code” and read what your state says about prostitution.  In general terms, these laws all universally attempt to say that you cannot trade money (monetary gain) for sex.  People try to get around the wording of these statutes in many fashions and with many actions.  Bottom line, LE has to prove in court to a Judge or Jury that you exchanged, attempted to exchange, or took some action in the furtherance of exchanging monetary gain for sex.  Calling the payment roses, diamonds, or just putting the cash in an envelope will not help you if they can prove you paid, or intended to pay, for cash for sex and are using code words for money and sex as a cover or means of trickery to avoid the intent of the law.

We could go on forever about specific scenarios, but here are some general tips that have worked for me:

1. Do not call attention to yourself.  Be discreet when you go to meet a provider.  Sneak in and out like a mouse.
2. Do not solicit the street workers.  LE is very good at using female officers or cooperating providers to get you when you approach street workers.  It is the easiest way for them to catch people.  They can hide anywhere and spring out of anyplace to nab you.
3. Law Enforcement does have rules, polices, procedures, and court standards they must follow to get you.  I cannot speak to every incident, but for the most part, (99.9%), of female LE will not get naked and they will not touch your Johnson.  This is usually grounds for dismissal of all charges in court, or at least it is in my area, (The Midwest).   If a provider gets naked, lets you fondle her, or grabs your package, you can be 99% sure she is not LE in the Midwest (8th Circuit Judicial District).  She could be a cooperating provider, but once she starts the naked touchy feely stuff, she has compromised any charges they might file against you.  But if you end up in court, you have already lost and paid a price even if you are found not guilty.
4. If something feels wrong, it probably is and you should cut and run.  Never take a chance when your instincts are telling you to leave.
5. Research your provider whenever possible.  TER is a great place for this.  If you stick with known and well reviewed providers, your chances for ending up in a sting go down dramatically.
