Greencard holder wanting to sponsor a family member. Would it be easier if I applied for my citizenship card and then sponsor my family? or do I apply for I-130 to start the process and then continue with other forms.

Is it possible to apply for immigration forms without the use of lawyers.. or does using a alwyer speed up the process?

A friend went through this process without a lawyer, it took him about a year to get his mother to join him.

Check this site for general info and good luck.

First, is the family member your unmarried child under 18?  Or a spouse, father, sister, etc.?
Second, if you have a green card, and it looks like you may be Canadian, apply for the US Citizenship (naturalization).  It will miake your life much easier, secure and give you a voice, e.g. vote, in the US.  But I'd still spend time in Canada, it's a nice place to live.  (US is a better place to make money)!

PS  Lawyers don't make it faster, but usually don't make mistakes so it goes faster as you do not need to deal with "rejects/re-applications". Shop around, in an urban area like LA there are 1,000's of immigratin lawyers, look for an AILA member.  But the lawyer can be located anywhere, it's all process through the mail.
