RI prostitution laws (or lack thereof)

To quote one of the frequent posters I ams still not a lawyer whoever I did spend 1.5 years in Law School at Suffolk university and I decided to research the question of prositution laws in RI.
Quite to my suprise it seems the opinions on this board are, for the most part, correct.
RI statute claims that prostitution is only an arrestable crime if it happens outdoors in public view. I see nothing that procludes a hobbyist and provider from conducting their affairs in private.
There is one caveat. Should a hotel complain to the police they could use a statute that prohibits business transaction from taking place within said hotel without the knowledge and permission of the hotel management. A very weak justification for police involvment as salesman do business out of hotel rooms all the time but could be used for harrassment.
Private homes, howver are completely o.k. Makes you wonder why more of the providers from MA anc CT don't set up shop in RI

Two reasons why more provider's don't got to RI. The first is because quite simply no one has any money down there. RI has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country and always has. Add to that the fact that you can get full service in some of the strip clubs down there for around $150.

A couple of ladies I know have gone down there and left after a day or two if guys calling and asking for discounts or booking and not showing up.

The bottom line is a smart lady who screens well and operates discretely doesn't really have to worry about LE.  The same goes for a hobbyist who sticks with well established ladies and avoids trouble.

The laws, or lack of them, are just not an incentive.

I'm not sure if that is a result of their lack of an enforceable anti-prostitution law or not.

I'm surprised that the INS hasn't shut many of them down as they have in Connecticut and other areas.

(still not a lawyer)

LOL, between the illegal Asians in the AMPS and the illegal Brazilians, Dominicans and Colombians in the strip clubs the INS could have a field day in Providence.

We need to have a field trip to investigate this for ourselves.

I conducted exhaustive research on Sunday night with an Asian stripper who is actually legal...

I don't really do AMPS anymore but Providence seems like a no brainer.  If they do raid the place it is over immigration  or licensing issues so customers just get sent away, not busted.

The laws are as stated...  but their are many co-eds & low end providers who drive the rate down.
There is a bill again to close this legal loophole.

Despite the economy I have a few repeat gentleman who live in newport or the cape /boston and east side of ct and its closer than boston or fact they dont want to play in their backyard. I dont think im considered low end either. A few of us do travel to RI. I love it there in the summer especially newport, you have to have money to live there! Yes you do run in a couple cheapers and no shows, but if you screen really screen gents your no show no calls are reduced to zero and cheapers well its not their fault its the girls out there that reduce their rate at the drop of a hat due to needing money right now pay a babysitter, rent or groceries I cant blame them but thats even in boston or ct even the wealthiest towns have cheapers in them! lol
