If you stop payment on a paper check can and company takes it to a collections agency can they do an electronic debit to you checking account?
I have gone to Dockers in past and not paid but If I want the full works you have to come back for test results so I had to make a down payment. Since I not planning on seeing the Dock again I Was going to stop payment and I not happing with the service also.

Don't be a jerk - pay up.
Collections agencies can make your life miserable if they choose to.

It's called fraud.  If all they do is sue you for the money, you are getting off really easy.

In most states it's a crime and you can be prosecuted criminally if you receive goods or services and then stop payment on the check to avoid paying for them.

Why the hell would anyone ever take a check if it were that easy.

If the doctor wants advice on how to throw your worthless ass in jail, I will be more than happy to assist however.

You used to be amusing, you are now just irritating. Crawl back into your hole, or learn how to be a better human being.

I would hope the rest of the community will feel as I do, and leave you to your own, limited devices.

You can place a Stop Payment on the Check, however, if you've signed an agreement in good faith, with the payee, relative to the Down Payment, they can utilize a collection agency to attempt to process the debt.  Usually 30-60 days out will start it.

Unless you've signed an agreement, that the payee may automatically deduct funds from you account, i.e., EFT Debit, you should be fine.  If they attempt to process the EFT debit, then file a claim with your bank relative to the unauthorized transaction and "charge it back".  Check 21 allows for this.

I'd encourage you to contact the organization, inform them that you have no plans to follow-through with the full tests, and plan to initiate or have initiated a stop payment.

Best bet would be to come to terms on a reasonable settlement, and follow-through so that there are no derogatory items out their on your credit profile.

by writing the check, you are acknowledging the debt.  Failure to honor a check will cause you no end of grief.  Do not write checks you don't intend to honor.
If cost is an issue, find some free clinic or planned parenthood.

there is no such thing as a stop not being "forever"
That is why it is called "stop"

Now, a NSF check can be redeposited once and not longer then 6 months as it then becomes stale dated.

which happens to coincide with the length of time before a check becomes "stale dated" as you call it.

So as a matter of practicality, you cannot redeposit a check that has been stopped. Well I guess you can redeposit the check, but it won't do you a bit of good.

A check is a "promise to pay" and is upheld as such in court.  Either way, you'll end up paying so you might as well just suck it up and pay the bill.

To answer your first question, the answer is no.
However, some jurisdictions allow bad check writers to be sent to a lower court, such as a magistrate for a judgment to be rendered (after service is effected). Magistrates have the power to order restitution, and hold you in contempt for not paying.

I hold you in contempt for being a dishonest deadbeat, and the only other advice I will give you is to pay your bills, and stop writing checks with less then honorable intentions.

If you were unhappy you missed your time to leave without paying before having the test run.  That makes as much sense as refusing to pay a provider for a date after doing the deed because you were not completely satisfied.  By the way when you filled out your paper work you signed a document allowing the doctor to treat you and promising to pay (This is standard for all medical offices and required by law.) should you not have insurance or should your insurance not cover the performed procedure.  IF YOU CANCEL THE CHECK IT IS FRAUD.  I personally as a doctor would not only send you to collections but would followup with criminal charges as well.  Sending you to collections cost me money, and fact is you used my services.  Test cost money and have already been done, who do you think pays for that.

Gee why does health care cost so much?
A:  maybe because  I have to eat $250 of test because some idiot doesn't feel he should have to pay for them.
