I am always cautious and take a lap around the hotel, scan the lobby a few times, as well as play elevator games (walk up/down) a floor before taking it to the designated floor. Plus, I almost exclusively use well-reviewed providers/agencies. Even with all that paranoia, it isn't always enough.
I came out of the room and was halfway down the hall when the room across the hall opened and two guys came out. I didn't think much of it. I waited for the elevator and they went down the stairs. As I started to walk out the lobby, they bracketed me so one went out before and one went out behind me. I always enter and leave the hotel with my cell to my ear feigning a call. I was nervous as hell and knew I was toast.
After stalling in the parking lot in directly in front of the hotel, one of the guys who were conspicuously nearby, flashed credentials and told me to get off the phone.
We went back and forth for 45 minutes in that parking lot with me denying everything and admitting nothing. Turns out they were across the hall, counted out me being in there for exactly 60 minutes. Turns out they were grilling the young lady (who turned out to be an illegal) trying to get her to roll on me - while they were trying to get me to roll on her (and more importantly, the agency).
They let me go and I thought I dodged a bullet but my home phone rang an hour later and LE threatened a warrant and as much embarrassment as he could muster.
Didn't walk, I ran to an attorney. He negotiated a quiet non-descript ticket because they really had nothing and the young lady was already in the clutches of ICE and would not be restating her story any time soon.
Although it's not like anyone is going to do time for this hobby, you have to be extra, extra, extra careful. They may not be able to bust you but they can torture you in other ways.
Be safe and be careful!
I'm convinced that I need a back-up plan. What's the best thing to do if we're caught? Anyone have any experience in this?
I saw 3 cop cars so I instinctively NCNS (didn't show up), but the provider called me asking if I forgot about our appointment.
I said "I saw 3 police cars and had a hunch that you're setting me up".
I knew her for a long time and she told me that she would never set me up and told me to come up assuring that I can give her the donation next time (so that no money is exchanged, this time) if that makes me more comfortable. It turns out she was telling me the truth. No sting...
I was a little concerned because Washington DC / Baltimore / Northern Virginia are apparently going through some LE stings. IMO, it's prolly not much of a problem at all, compared to the size of the 3 cities and the number of reported stings (maybe less than 3 to 5? LOL), but it still raises concerns.
I'd like to hear from someone with some real-life experience answer this one. While we're all being careful, seeing well reviewed providers, and using common sense, it would be nice to know what one should do from the moment one is caught in a sting until things are all better.
Of course, not saying anything until talking to a lawyer is the first step. But any other recommendations from people who have gone through it?
Also, I've thought of some safety measures,
1) See well reviewed ladies.
2) Use a completely anonymous cellular phone
3) A gmail account,
4) Completely drive all the way around the hotel to see if there are several cop cars parked anywhere.
...
feel free to contribute to this list...
I think you hit the nail right square on the head when you said don't say anything.
Don't say anything and don't consent to any searches.
Don't try and explain anything. Don't try and talk your way out of it.
Bottom line is this: If they have enough to arrest you, you will not talk your way out of it. However, if they don't have enough to arrest you, you may just be able to give them that little bit more they need to make an arrest.
full of LE.
It didn't make a lot of sense to me that all these guys were showing up just to nab by raggedy ass so I went over to the bell captain and asked him what's up with all the men in blue?
It turns out some VIP was visiting and they had these guys there for security.
So, I went up to my date and we had a fine time.
Sometimes, you just need to ask.
99% of the time, if LE has any brains, they use unmarked cars for a sting. That's why if you approach a motel, especially the kind where the doors face the parking lot, and you see a bunch of Crown Vics sitting in the lot, you'll want to just keep on going.
(still not a lawyer)
Sorry, but Las Vegas Metro has a huge variety of unmarked vehicles they use up to and including F-150 Pickup Trucks. The TYPE of vehicle is meaningless. Look deeper. Are the windows dark tinted so you can't see if anyone is inside doing surveilance? Extra antennas? (nice clue but not sure-fire).
The bottom lines always remain the same. Unless you are using a well reviewed provider or one you have seen before and are comfortable with, watch your ass and listen to that little voice inside you. If something is telling you that something isn't quite right, keep on going. Sorry ladies, but I'd no-call, no-show ten times before i'd risk a bust.
For the record, i've NCNS exactly one time for the above.
MVR
Undercover LE knows that perps know a Crown Vic is too easy a giveaway, so they buy up all kinds of cars. Even the antennae can be hidden with modern radio technology and the flip flop lights are hidden in the tail lights and parking lights.
The Mass State Police have been using unmarked Mustangs for years to catch speeders, for example.
Oh for the good old days when the cheap standard hubcaps were a sure give away to an unmarked car.
One of my golfing buddies owns a new car dealership in Los Angeles. He said LAPD uses trade ins for undercover work. They only use an undercover car for two weeks then they exchange the car for another used trade in. They don't modify the cars in anyway. The only thing they do is add gasoline and oil. Their radios are handheld so they don't need any special radio equipment or antennas. There is virtually no way you can tell one of their "undercover" cars from any other car. The PD buys plain Crown Victorias for detectives etc. but they are not used for undercover work.
Cops use their private vechiles so it could be an F-150 to a mustang to a camero.

Thankfully I do NOT have any personal experience to relate. But I thought it might be helpful to repost a post that was on the GD board some time ago. It got a monster number of hits, and I thought it might be helpful and valuable to cross post it here again, in case you missed it. Many feel, and I agree, that it's a must see video.
Full credit should go to "Royal Albert" for the original post.

The bottom line is STFU. Be poilte, give LE your basic information (name, address, drivers license) but then ask that you be able to contact a lawyer before answering any additional questions.

Thought it might be nice to post direct links to the two vids mentioned..

Many would consider these must see TV!

Hotels are differant from "motels" with doors that open to the outside rather than a corridor. I don't care what they call themselves, doors to the outside are very easy for LE to monitor.
If you want to check for LE cars, do not just look for marked units... check the trunk decks for antennas... unfortunately, a lot of cops are getting wise & using varying makes & models.
Probably the best thing would be to withdraw from the immediate area & call the lady. Let her know & see what she says. At the least, she ought to thank you.
skb
There won't be any marked cars sitting in the lot. Their won't be officers hanging out in the lobby - they will all be in the room next to the provider, waiting for the signal to bust in and nab you.
A bunch of marked cars in the lot pretty much guarantees that there is NOT a sting in progress at that hotel. We insult the intelligence of the police, but they're not THAT stupid to leave their cars all over the parking lot!
It's the ones you don't see.
Marked police cars in the parking lot only mean that your chances of getting mugged are very low. lol
so will it only be an incall that they bust you? or outcalls also?? it seems that on an outcall, they are not in control.. thoughts?
Sometimes the cops do outcall stings but rarely bc they have no control over the situation. That's why I almost never do outcalls. So far, so good! Even after 9 yrs. ![]()
I had an appt. where there were three 'cars' in the parking lot and one of them advertised 'puppies'. I couldn't give a squat. I had a wonderful time(3 hrs.)with aphrodite.
I just don't assume that i'm important enough to consider someone making an 'effort' for ME.
Not everyone has nerves of steel though. As a matter of fact I think i just wanted to get laid so bad that i didn't CARE.
If i had NEVER seen the chica in question,i may have turned tail instead of getting some(tail).
A few years ago we used to work weekends in Vegas.
So one night after a long drive across the desert we pull into our usual discrete off strip hotel late at night and go to bed - looking forward to a busy weekend.
The next morning we go outside to find the parking lot FILLED with police cars - from all over the country.
Turned out they were having a police convention at the hotel and there were like 500 cops staying there!
That took some explaining to our guests.
Now I always ask before booking a room anywhere - does the pool heated? Is there any construction going on, and are there any conventions...
LOL,

Around the hotels...to date, I presume they had other things to do. There are a couple of times which deserve mention:
One time, after a two hr. meeting ended, the lady asked me for a lift to a friends home. Of course, not problem. While on the way back to my car, we stopped off at a store for take-out. Two NYPD came in behind us, and there was discourse with them...over what was the best choice of menu items at the store. The lady I was with was well known on TER, but if the cops knew anything, they didn't say.
The other time, I arrived at my friends incall, called and got her room #, then proceeded to her hotel. There were three cop cars in sight once I turned the corner, one just to my right, the other two parked across the street from the hotel entrance. I just kept walking...the cars across the street were empty, and I met my friend in her room shortly thereafter. I told her about the gauntlet I had just walked through...she was very interested, and we looked out the window, and saw cops getting into one of the cars with bags in their hands...obvious they were not there for us, just picking up dinner. She checked again as our time was winding down...gone. After I left, I saw the third car was still there, two hrs. later, and I felt uncomfortable as I walked past. I felt their stare bore into me...when I got to my car, I booked. Half way home, I called my friend in appreciation for the wonderful evening, and to tell her that the cop we couldn't see from her room hadn't left. Needless to say, she doesn't use that hotel anymore...
Common sense, and acting on your instincts, is key to avoiding unpleasant encounters with The Man. If you can't avoid, remember that you have Fifth Amendment rights...best that you invoke them on the spot if arrested, and consult with your attorney, before talking with police.

i pulled up to an incall location about a year ago.I was early for my appointment so i circled out of the parking lot and went for a 10 minute ride.I called her as requested when i arrived. She said she was running late and to sit tight. As i sat there a police cruiser pulled up behind me.I pulled my map out from under my seat and opened my cell phone. He asked what i was doing and i told him that i was lost.I told him i must have gotton on the wrong highway because of the split 3 miles up the road.He did not believe me at first and questioned me for about 20 minutes.I was a little nervous and he asked why and i said i am not familiar with area(LIE)and it was snowing and needed to get home. After he checked me out he gave me a warning about what happens in that area and let me be on my way(thank god).I got a call from the women and she said i saw what had happened and she was sorry that happened but suggested to her that she should change locations but she said not to worry. She then proceeded to call me for 2 days and get me back up there.(crazy).I just thought i would share this.Just act stupid and stay calm.
I had a long time client nsnc on me once. I called, emailed, no response. I seen him on yahoo msgr about a year later and asked him why he stood me up that day. He said when he came in the apt complex there was a sheriffs dept car driving thru! He felt he was being set up. Lmao. Seeing cop cars in an apt complex is very common. they're delivering eviction notices usually. Good grief. I was pissed at his paranoia and the fact he thought I'd set him up. I also let him know in a sting the cops don't show their presence!
