Who contacted you and what did he say when the appointment was set up, e.g. was money, sex acts, etc. discussed?

Did he give you the hotel room number before you got to the hotel?

What type of hotel did you go to?  Was it a big place or a small place where he/they could see everyone in the parking lot.

Where were you arrested, e.g. in the parking lot, in the hotel, in the room?

If you made it to the room were you let in by the "client" and were there any other people in the room besides the client?

Was there a conversation preceding the arrest?  You said you were arrested you for escorting without a license.  Did you tell him/them you were an escort? How did he/they know you were an escort if you didn't tell him/them?

When you say you were arrested, does that mean you were handcuffed and booked at a police facility?  Or did they issue you some sort of a citation and cite you to court?  What was the charge for which you were arrested?  There is a penal code section on your bail slip or the citation they issued.

All of these things are important if the readers are going to gain any useful information from your experience.

The best way to relate an incident like this is to start with the original contact then describe the each step in chronological order.

Hi hon on June 10th evening was contacted by a guy(denver police detective}to go see him at the Homestead Suites 4885 S.Quebec St. (125 belleview}he gave me room number and his cell.Said  he saw my post on cl and backpage.Felt uneasy in parking lot so I was leaving when approached by the detective he cuffed me and took  me upstairs where alot of other providers already were.Since no money was exchanged/discussed I was the only one turned loose.Issued court summons for no escort license my condoms/phone lube/ect were takin from me for evidence.Detective told me not to post warnings I did anyway  this guy called me and was PISSED!!!

It sounds like you have a good case if you were arrested in the parking lot before you even met anyone.  I don't know what constitutes violating the escorting without a license law in Colorado or the city where you were arrested but I am sure from what you said you didn't violate the ordinance.  The only possible violation I can think of is trespassing.  However, if the parking lot is open to the public and you parked you car in the parking lot I doubt trespassing would apply.  Someone from the hotel would have to ask you if you were parking in the lot to use the hotel.  If you said you were parking your car in the hotel parking lot but going someplace other than the hotel then the hotel employee could ask you to leave.  If you refused to leave, the hotel could call the police.  The hotel employee would have to tell you to leave in the presence of the police and you would have to refuse to leave in order to be arrested.  The arrest would be a citizen's arrest for trespassing.

Needless to say, I hope you have an attorney.  If what you say is accurate you might have a civil cause of action against the police.  You should discuss that possibility with your attorney and ask him to recommend an attorney who specializes is police misconduct lawsuits.

This is a new ploy by towns around Denver and other areas to make it easier to bust escorts because no offer of sex is needed to make this one stick, just evidence that you showed up to spend time with a person for pay is enough to get you busted.

To get an escort license, you have to surrender tons of personal info to LE which is like drawing a bulls-eye on your back.

It is a cynical applicaton of the law, but that's what we get these days.

As for whether you can beat the rap, you need to get all the details to your lawyer and see what he or she says.

Many times a good lawyer can beat these things, but of course, LE has already gotten what it wants.
