They speak of a nationwide movement in this direction...the sooner the better!

The new District Attorney for Los Angeles County, George Gascon, announced that he would not prosecute certain misdemeanors including Solicitation of Prostitution.  The Los Angeles County District Attorney only prosecutes misdemeanors that occur in unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County.  In incorporated cities that have a prosecuting city attorney misdemeanors are prosecuted by the city attorney.  Therefore if a person is arrested for solicitation of prostitution in the City of Los Angeles the offense would be prosecuted by the city attorney.  The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department can still arrest for solicitation of prostitution in unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County.  However, the arrestee would be released without bail and not charged with the crime.

I’m not familiar with LA. I just know it’s huge. Are there nice communities in the unincorporated part of LA county? Looks like lots of new DAs are doing similar things.

I think the San Francisco DA has said the same thing a couple of years ago already.  So when the DA of your city says this, this should mean the end of the sting operations, etc, right?  But then I don't see the easing of pressure reflected in the providers attitudes. The screening and paranoia is as strict as it has ever been. I realize the screening is for potentially violent clients as well as for LE, but I would think it's time to ease up on the very strict screening at this point.

Philly too but all of the above areas will still prosecute the Johns? Total hypocrisy
