Intimidated by LE?

Okay so there's a huge sweep and I mean huge sweep going on Indianapolis for the rest of the weekend I believe. Anyways, I always consider myself to be extremely careful and have only been a provider for about five months now. I said that I would never jump in without knowing what I was getting into. Well yesterday, I finally met with an undercover cop in my apartment. It was the worst scenario ever!!

He passed background checks and I guess that I just didn't pick up on the small cues. Anyways I'm kind of glad in a ways, because at least the unexpected happened. It was at my incall location, which I thought for the most part that LE would avoid..but I normally don't do incall. Yesterday, just for laziness I guess I offered incall and was surprised that my phone would stop ringing. As soon as I hung up someone else would call. I made the appointment after going through about fifteen different numbers.

Anyways I was charged with a misdemeanor. Suprising thing to me was that I could could get in trouble without having accepted the money. That was my argument, because I never posted my rates and we agreed on an hour of my TIME and as soon as he stripped and I touched his back...whipped out the badge. It was beyond humiliating. He called in his partner who was LOUD and refused to shut my apartment door until he felt ready. His partner started opening all my blinds and after I objected he started cussing and starting walking in and out of my bedrooms/bathrooms opening and closing drawers. I don't do drugs never will and I most certainly would never stash money in my own residence.

After being ticketed, they told me that I needed to take all of posts off of CL and that if I continued to post they'll keep coming after me, get me kicked out of my apartment, take my vehicle, and lock me up!! I got a lawyer right away and he's fairly certain that he can get the case thrown out or get a diversion, but in the meantime while I am waiting for my courtdate(about 4-6wks away)would it hurt me to post on CL? I mean my ads are not explicit in any way or context I don't imply that anything other than time is being offered. What if I were to make an ad that goes into details as to what shouldn't be expected..am I in trouble then too? I have never been in trouble in my whole life and this obviously is not something that I want to have to deal with.

I looked ALL over yesterday and I came to the conclusion that escorting without a license is perfectly legal in Indiana, but should I expect to automatically get arrested for putting up a post on CL? For the state of IN

IC 35-45-4-2
Prostitution
Sec. 2. A person who knowingly or intentionally:
       (1) performs, or offers or agrees to perform, sexual intercourse or deviate sexual conduct; or
       (2) fondles, or offers or agrees to fondle, the genitals of another person;
for money or other property commits prostitution, a Class A misdemeanor. However, the offense is a Class D felony if the person has two (2) prior convictions under this section.
As added by Acts 1976, P.L.148, SEC.5. Amended
Prostitution laws make it a crime in most states to offer, agree to, or engage in a sexual act for compensation. Depending upon applicable state law, the stages of a typical prostitution "transaction" can involve charges against the provider of services (for "prostitution"), the customer paying for the services (for "solicitation of prostitution"), and any middleman (for "pandering" or "pimping").

Okay so what should be my recourse? I'm doing this for to pay for school and rent so it's not like I have much of an option..

Sorry to hear about your misfortune.  LE targets CL in particular...stay away!  They do this nationwide...your best recourse is to avoid CL like the plague, and find other outlets to advertise...

If I were your lawyer, I'd advise you to cease all provider activities until your case is resolved.  Any further trouble while your case is pending just makes it harder for your lawyer to negotiate a dismissal or diversion.  Whether it's legal or not, even any appearance of impropriety will make it harder for your lawyer to do his job.  Don't take the risk.

and, what are the "small cues" that you refer to that now seem to be what should have tipped you off.

Sharing those here will be of great benefit to other providers.

It is upsetting to hear that LE is getting proficient at getting through screening, so every bit of information is important.

Just a question:  Did LE give any provider references and if they did, did the references pan out?

Have a different name, because I signed up for VIP yesterday.

But as far as the small cues go:

*He called from a gas station said he was almost there and immediately wanted my apartment number, but I wouldn't give it to him unless he got nearby he reluctantly agreed. The only reason why that's a red flag for me is because I've NEVER had anybody argue about waiting.

*As soon as he walked in, he showed up in somewhat of a work jacket and just started looking aroung he was very hesitant about me immediately taking him with into another room.

*When we got to my room, he started making forced sniffles and rubbing his nose. I asked him if he had a cold and he said he was extremely allergic to dogs and asked if I had dogs I said no. He asked if I had cats or other animals..I said no.

*After that he immediately got undressed, normally I have to coax the guys to get comfortable with me, but he had no problem what with taking his clothes off.

*He wouldn't leave his coat out of the room and instead hung it on the door. He kept adjusting it so that the pockets would face out.Maybe just my paranoia but most guys just hang it and leave.

*Now, Most guys would let the provider lead..he wanted me to give him a massage right off the bat(silly me I thought vice couldn't get naked or get touched)

*Most important one!! He layed on my bed but Refused to lay in a manner in which he couldn't see me and his head was never layed down on the bed.He felt up my pillows then checked underneath, he said that he was checking the fabric because he has allergies(I said to myself, this sad guy probably has to live in a bubble because of his allergies again..SILLY ME)

*As soon as my hands touched his back he said you know whatI'd rather give you a massage hmm okay? so I laid down on my stomach and he said that he couldn't really give me a massage because of my top so I pulled it down to my waist,He then said that he'd prefer for me to be on my back so okay..top down, I turned on my back.

*He asked if I cad A condom, I said what?(most guys come with the assumption that I already have it and it just seemed wierd that he  wanted a massage and I haven't given to him,He wanted to give it to me but I haven't recieved it and now we are jumping to condoms?! Any ways..he just said well never mind because I'm normally allergic to latex and he reached into the open coat pocket and presented me with a badge!!How Lovely

*One more thing, when I asked him what he did(one of my icebreaker q's) he said he was a surveyor that was while he was laying on the bed.Okay different than what I had expected(I use csiworldwide.com for background info

*Also not talkative in the least one two word answers.

*As far as the provider reference, I ended up e-mailing the link below. She said that she was having a hard time getting guys to leave reviews to which she linked me to her escorts profile which had no pics/reviews she said that she had to make a new profile because she had the other one deleted. Now, most of you are wondering at this point..Why??!! I am in the same boat that she was in except that I actually have a review again silly me!!

However, the offense is a Class D felony if the person has two (2) prior convictions under this section.

Two more arrests and you are at risk of being charged with a felony by the time third one comes up for trial. Shut everything down, make sure you have a legitimate full time job or school admission, and generally build a record that will allow your lawyer to argue that you just made a one time mistake here. He may be wrong that the charges will be dismissed on technical grounds and it may come down to prosecutorial discretion. LE is a lot more interested in the pros than the part timers.

On the facts, you gave it sounds like you were charged with solicitation rather than actual prostitution. The CL post, the phone call with the officer, what you said to the officer, abd the touching  will all be used to establish an offer. Accepting money is not an element of this crime.

Unless your ad and testimony show you were offering non-sexual massages, it is kind of hard for you to explain why you touched his back. So lableing you conduct as non-sexual escorting is not going to get you far.

Shut it down now.

and if you can't stop altogether, stick with guys you know personally (i.e. regulars).  Maybe, and I mean big maybe, see a guy that a regular can vouch for, but until this blows over, you want to be squeaky clean.

You're already on their radar.  Don't forget it.

The majority of women that attend college each year in the U.S. are not escorts. You can apply for financial aid to attend school. You may be eligible for also grants and you may qualify for even scholarships to further your education.

Especially in your situation right now it's not good for you to be posting ads. Craigs list is a haven for law enforcement.

Being a provider is not the only way for you to further your education. A lot of people work part time jobs and even full time jobs while attending college; yet they still graduate.

Now a days it's very difficult to find a job after college. You don't want a prostitution charge on your record after you finish school.

Just wondering, how far away was his partner during the initial stages of the encounter?  And they came in 2 cars??? Seems like they went to an awful lot of trouble just to try to get one girl. and for what?  Thank you for the education and I'm so sorry this happened to you.

I went out and met him in the parking lot and I personally didn't see anything/car that seemed out of the ordinary. So my only guess is that his partner pulled up later afterwards. I didn't follow them out obviously, but it's just one of those encounters that make you reconsider as to what it is that you think you really know. Obviously this was eye-opening for me, because alot of things that I thought I knew...I really didn't. On some of the other posts, some people say that when you meet with a vice than you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't. I believe it. No tapes, No recordings, No proof and yet I'm in trouble. My best advice is just don't meet one, because I believe that they'll jump through as many hoops that are needed to get you where they want you to be.
