Over the weekend I was busted for a 647b  solicitation a prostitute. This is a first time offense for me. Does anybody know what I should expect?

that is the first step.
since this is your first offense, hiring a lawyer will cost anywhere from $2,500 to $5,000. sometimes even little cheaper.  the prices will vary if you have any other probations such as dui, misdemeanor, etc..
circumstances varies on the degree of the arrest. was it at a MP? was there more than one person? how many condoms were discovered? etc, etc...if your are lucky, your case may not be filed at all depending on the LE. if it doesn't, it does not mean it was dismissed. the courts might file again next month or the next. i don't really know the exact duration where it has to be filed but usually they will file it. the lawyer will delay your court date few times. usually 3 to 4 times depending on the DA's offer.
at the end, your lawyer and the DA will settle. if you really don't want 647 to be in your records, they will settle for less, like trespassing. but you will need to do community service, take a AIDS test, and be on probation for usually one year.
It's only a misdemeanor but you have to be cautious from now on if you continue to work. if you get caught again while this case has not been closed or dismissed, your lawyer fees will double or triple.
