Seeing a reviewed provider is one way to avoid stings. Agreed!
But outside of a dozen or so major metropolitan areas, it's slim pickings on TER, so it's back to CL, CV and BP. I mean, in most rural areas, it's either CL or none, I'm not kidding you. Asides, extra safety is always a good thing. So I'll share some insights, as it will no doubt help some folks. And if you got some tips, feel free to chip in.
So here's a sure way to avoid stings: 1) Call the add a few days in advance - ask some basic info (age, stats, city/town, etc.) 2) Call back in a couple days, check if provider is still in town, ask about availability. 3) Call back in a week - if provider is still booking, and there are no news in the paper, she's likely legit.
This method works to weed out stings, because I never heard of such an elaborate sting that it would span days and weeks. And girls ussually do have flexibility to arrange a meeting on the date you ask and at the time you want. Brilliant!
And a few hints for the appointment:
* If you get to the place and it's a motel with doors facing outside - could be a bad thing, too easy to monitor - a judgment call I guess
* Don't park on the premise; instead, park a couple blocks away. This way they don't get your tags.
* Trace back on foot and take note of escape routes. If you end up walking-in on three dudes waiting to rob you - can run out and not have to worry about them getting you while you stumbling, looking for a key ...depends on how good of a runner you are (wear sneakers).
* While you are walking around, you don't wand your friends and family to recognize you, so wear clothes you don't normally wear. Sunglasses and a hoody or a baseball hat should be your uniform of the day.
* Have several pictures of the lady with you - if it's not her - turn around and RUN. At the very least she's a bait-and-switch liar, often times coupled with upsell and bad service, and other scams. Now I don't recommend you take a printed picture - a password protected PDA with 128bit encryption is a much better choice - totally secure and less things to incriminate you with.
* When talking to the lady initially, be totally neutral, as far as sex goes. That's what everybody else says, so we are in total agreement here. If the girl brings up sex and pay before you are settled in - might be wise to leave - another judgment call.
* After you get in the room - check that the door is locked, especially deadbolt and door chain. Don't want visitors coming in to taking paparazzi shots!
* Peek in the bathroom - if there are a couple dudes hanging out there - that is NOT cool.
* If you are in a hotel with doors between adjacent rooms - try to open it - you might find somebody on the other side, better now when later. If it's locked from the other side, make sure that your side is locked as well!!
* Make sure blinds and curtains are closed.
* Do a brisk pat down - check the girl for body wire and any concealed weapons.
* Do a quick room check for spy cams, bugs and anything else that should not be there. There are handheld laser based hidden-cam detectors, as well as wireless frequency analyzers that are readily available for a couple hundred bucks. Get that gear to help with counter-surveillance - don't be caught off guard.
* Before you put down the envelope - get some DFK or at least have her stroke you for a bit, you'll know she's legit then.
* Keep an eye on the girl and don't let her open the door for nobody during your session. And don't let her leave with your money before the session is over - that's how this scamers operate.
* Be on alert during the session - a knock on the door, or anything unusual, and you should be dressed and flushing the condoms in 10 seconds flat, or swallow if you short on time.
* And after you done, don't leave any samples of your DNA lying around.
* Finally, don't talk to police! Just say your name and the following phrases: Officer, Am I free to go; Officer, did I do something wrong; Officer, I'll need to consult with my lawyer before I can answer your questions
or a standard stalking serial killer, because that's what came to mind when I read your "safety" rules. Hooded sweatshirt, sunglasses, surreptitious approaches to the door, pat downs, carrying pics of the girl, and searching the room after you lock the door?

I think a lot of gents and girls on this boards are from big cities, with established providers, reviews, references... but it's a big world out there.
Act based on circumstances, and where you are and who you with, if the lady is well established, then sure, put your mind more at ease.

I think you started out with the right idea, testing the waters and getting a feel for the chick and all...but you don't have to frisk her if she's screened you, she'll get "comfortable" you'll get comfortable and voila ...
No matter what you do (or don't do) or say (or don't say) if you're walking into a sting, in the room and chit-chatting, you're not leaving without a citation or those shiny 'lets..
If I was a hobbyist, I would call the hotel like I was making reservations and ask if they have adjoining rooms, as if you were looking for a reservation. Find out the room numbers/floors that they have (and ammenities,accomodations, etc) not just available but in the hotel in general. You must play the part of the picky hotel traveler. Then when you "arrive" at the hotel and make the call for the room # and it's one of those, don't go (as a provider, I would NEVER stay in an adjoining room, what for? )
If you arrived at my incall in a hoodie, I might not open the door...
If I was a hobbyist and was directed to an incall with an outside door, I would be very wary. Circle the surrounding area for surveillance etc. but if they're good, you won't spot 'em.
I've seen men who look like they're going to have a heart attack from nerves. They obviously didn't do their homework to realize they were with someone tried and true.
If the situation makes you that stressed, why in the world pursue it?

I have to agree that it's quite a list... but yet, there are some very good points. A lot of hotels have info on line, at least a picture so you know what the place looks like. If it's local, it's not a big deal to just drive by to see the parking & exposure. Several times, I have gone to incalls where parking was conspicious so I parked nearby & walked the short distance. I've had ladies give me a tour, including showing that outside doors were locked & no one else in the location. In hotels, yes, check the bathroom if the door is closed! That's a good tip.
If the girl gets up & bolts for the door, if you prevent her from leaving you might open yourself to unlawful restraint or kidnaping. You might slow her down but be careful. Never agree to her taking the donation outside.

Please seek out a clinical psychologist that can prescribe you the correct medication and therapy you so desperately seem to need. Indeed there are plenty of scams out there and it is best to be safe.
I have heard that if you are unsure if the provider is LE that you should ask for her to do some nude modeling. If she does the nude modeling then I would doubt if she is LE and you can proceed to other activities. If she refused the nude modeling, then leave. If you have not mentioned sex in your phone calls or emails before the appointment and all you request when you show up to the appointment is nude modeling, then what can LE do to you?
I prefer wearing a condom over sneakers. If it is a sting and you walk into that room you are screwed. I do not suggest running in your sneakers on your escape route to your strategically placed batmobile. Unless you want to get shot in the ass.
but being alert helps improve the odds. Newbies are at a big disavantage... after a few meetings, one gets a sense of how things should look when you're introduced. If your spidy-sense says something is wrong... slow down, open your eyes, look around. I am not sure how legit providers would react at a few of your suggestions. First of all calling a girl 3 times and not setting up a date would lead me to think that the provider would assume your just a game player who doesn't want to actually make a date.
I share your frustration with lack of selection away from the coasts, but I limit my fact finding to one call that doesn't set up a date, the 2nd call to the girl is to set something up.
Alot of your suggestions are insightful but I think if you show up to a sting you are pretty much arrested. Now the less you incriminate yourself the better your chances in court but if you enter a hotel room that is the host of a sting, I don't think their is any way out without being arrested.
