Amazing it took so long.  There was enough reasonable doubt in the case to fill a freight car.  Not to mention investigative mis-conduct

That she was considering going back to Italy to do her writing-she likes the country....etc.....

Suggest she understands that she would go at her own peril---any misstep would land her in jail...why tempt fate ???

can twist the naive'.  The other roomates made a brief statement & left the country.  She should have called the consul, gotten representation, made a statement & got out.  

That the botched investigation could be carried so far...  7+ years, 4 years in custody, millions in legal fees.
