No, no, no... I'm not in any 'trouble', so don't go grabbing your popcorn for the latest drama.  (Well, not yet anyhow.)  :)

However, I have a few questions about invasion of privacy/hidden cameras in private dressing room issues.

Feel free to PM me and thanks in advance!!

~Aria~

Could you post a link to any of the videos so that we can take a look?

(still a wise guy)

... I wish!

Actually, I have never had the pleasure of viewing said footage.  I've only heard of its existence through friends and acquaintances that have seen it.

The guy in question that set up the camera didn't deny that he had done it when I called him on it.  He insinuated that the 'tape' had been destroyed, but I'm very skeptical.

But trust me... if it had been posted, I'd have found it by now.  I've been lookin'!!  :)

Voyourism laws have largely not kept up with the technology...  so it varies widely, depending on the state statutes.  Some have been updated.

the only thing that would bother me about that was that he went about it w/out your consent. And the fact that if there is any $$ being profited from this, that wouldpiss me off as well.

Aria:

Depends on the state, but almost all of them have privacy laws forbidding the keeping and distribution of such tapes - Chuck berry got nailed with tapes he took of the women's bathroom in an amusement park he owned.

The cameras are permitted for security only.  If any reliable evidence should come out that he's looking at them with a "different" intent (like, he puts them on the web and you can prove it), well, you can probably get him arrested and sue his unscrupulous ass off.

Legally.

Have fun!

I can only speak to the one state I am licensed in, CA. If he has shown the videos to anyone, you may be able to look into some of the invasion of right to privacy catagories, like "Appropriation of Plaintiff's picture for commercial advantage" if money is involved,  or "Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress" if he is just making up the stories and BS-ing you.

Most statutes that relate to this sort of thing will be in an invasion of privacy related legal area, but as there is no uniform law, your state may vary. Again, California has a "Peeping Tom" law that creates an expectation of privacy in public areas. If you were in California, I'd direct you to California Penal Code section 647, specifically sections J and K, where he could in theory have a nice 45 day stay in the pokie, and nice fines, not including the civil fines he would be open to, in a civil trial. Here's a link if you want to take a look at how CA does their law.

I was hoping to message you or find some type of profile, but I'm still new to this board, and can't figure it out yet.

Also, I have to do this. This posting does not create a lawyer client relationship (duh, since it's posted for everyone to see), between this party or any party reading and or relying on this advice, it is posted as general information only, Thanks.
