Good afternoon to my fellow TER friends,

Unfortunately, I ran into a bit of trouble and am in search of, either a provider friendly lawyer/ or one who is experienced and aggressive with these matters. I'm in Minnesota...please let me know if anyone has a connection or any advice or previous experience. I'm obviously nervous and would appreciate any stories or insight into the matter. Thank you so much. Safety and happiness to you all!

if you have friends in the trade you might get feedback from them, if not, try Guild Lawyers if there are any in your area as they are interested in individual rights and often work pro bono (free), also some legal defenders offered by the state are good and some are not (if you get a young one he/she may not have experience but may work harder for you). Sometimes there are legal clinics at law schools or attached to charities. If it is a very technical  problem or if you want to know who handles such cases,  you might head to the law library (most cities or universities have them) and look up cases that are similar to yours. In researching look for recent cases, the attorneys names will be attached to the local cases that are recent. There are plenty of internet law firms that will give you a lot of free reading so you can understand what you are up against. To hire a private lawyer is costly and simple solicitation does not always carry a hefty sentence, If you are dealing with a technicality it may be worth fighting, but if the  state has a strong case you might get a lesser sentence if you plead out and take your lumps. At the least discuss with an attorney to decide if the case has merit and then decide what works for you. Do not expect to trade your services for free assistance, usually an attorney who plays that game really fucks his clients. Some of the better connected lawyers on a local level are ex detectives who retire and become lawyers. Bar association may offer referrals on lawyers who specialize in certain types of criminal law. Sometimes bail bondsman have good referrals. Good luck!
