and I would add that this is important not only from the standpoint of the person considering the "advice" or "opinion" but also from the standpoint of the person offering the advice or opinion.
No one but licensed attorneys can lawfully offer legal advice and they can do so only in the states where they are licensed. And non-attorneys cannot offer legal advice anywhere.
So we all have to remember that comments posted on this board are offered simply as "discussion" and not legal advice or opinion to anyone, even if the poster identifies himself as an attorney.
While there are some disclaimers on TER that may be open to interpretation, the disclaimers on the Legal Corner Board mean exactly what they say.
I read that the Phx PD is planning to notify the local jurisdictions of those out of towners named on the list. Has anyone heard of this happening yet?
that Phoenix, and AZ in general, will be targeting all things TER for the forseeable future.
... so Phoenix PD dains to advise someone's local PD that their name appears on a list of customers for an escort agency? So what? Do you honestly think your local vice squad is going to start following you around? Give me a break! They have neither the time nor personnel nor (probably) any interest in doing so.
An interesting question for an attorney would be whether Phoenix PD sending your name might be libel or defamation of character. On the one hand they have not even spoken to you, much less had you in custody. On the other, all they can say is that your name was on a list, so what damage have they done you?
MVR
Darn good point Von..what bottom feeders have time to follow people around like that...that is such a waste of tax resources..
unfortinatly, there are a few sick apples,
IE: my anomoly case.
3rd attorney actually laughed about LEs report & called it "stalking" as the vice cop had put so much energy into hunting me down..as the the "courting emails" began a few days before we met for lunch & the other 2 cops watching me drive up & walk into reasteraunt, looking at menu from across the room....
My feeling is local PD will laugh while doing hoop-shots at the circular file. What an I supposed to do with this? they say!
Your name on the list is not chargeable in Pheonix, unless you were caught in a sting. It's sure not chargeable outside that jurisdiction.
This is a bluff / threat. The only risk would be if that list got published in home jurisdictions. But it's not going to the TV or Newspaper. It's illegal to leak to the paper though that's the real risk... anyone doing so would risk a suit against himself & his agency.

Does anyone have the link to the Phoenix? I am sure a lot of us would like to take a look.
I found the answer to my question. The file is in two parts and the names are in alpha order by first name.
Again agencies are dangerous!! They keep records, just like any other business. Phoenix is leading the way; expect other LE agencies to do the same after they make their busts.

it proves nothing, but they are takng things way too far.... next they will putting local drug store receipts of who bought a condom or feminine hygiene products...
Some agency/providers requires detailed privacy information for "screening" purposes. No one should do business with them. Otherwise, something like this can happen.
There is really no doubt anymore. Agencies are health hazards.
Now that Phoenix has released this list, expect every other LE agency to release the lists they get when they raid an agency.
To be forwarned is to be forarmed. If you give any personal data to an agency, expect it to be on the internet at some time in the future. Ultimately, ALL agencies get shut down.
I'm not a lawyer, but can't they bring these guys in to sweat them in making a mann act case against?
they have many task forces now with the violent crimes unit and homeland security going after pimps and underage girls being forced into this.
They just had their third national sting this weekend in many cities under the same initiative.
Anyone seeing agency girls or girls who list the same number. Girls who look young and/or don't show their faces (indicating they may be underage) in ads ... this was all on MSNBC.
It's a different industry since about a year ago when all this money was allocated for this. They're also looking for touring troops.
Stick to low profile, truly independent ladies who aren't advertising as such and are discreet, you should be ok.
Great advice for us all. The world seems to have changed, and not for the better.
should not be offering advice on a escort board. Further, anyone who believes that the Mann Act has anything to do with a local prositution case should not be offering advice on a legal board.
This is the one board that one's advice has the potential to do much more harm than good, I would advise all of the good intentioned advice givers to keep this in mind when posting.
BTW your advice to stick to "low profile, truly independent ladies" while not always possible is still good advice.
The only advice I saw was to stick to independents for discretion purposes. That may or may not be good advice depending on the independent provider one "sticks" to, but as you indicated, it is a valid position.
Everyone should keep in mind that ANY advice given on this board is automatically relegated to be the opinion of the poster, and not legal advice to be relied upon in any way. If in doubt about any personal legal issue, seeking advice from a local attorney is really the only sane option.
Good luck

for years there have been posters here offering not just bad advice, but advice that would have extreme adverse effects to anyone following the advice. Anyone here remember "wannarideher", she was constantly giving advice that would almost certainly land anyone taking her advice in jail.
The best advice ever offered here is "STFU" and "get a lawyer".
I commented on the MSNBC special because one officer specifically stated they look for ad's of girls who crop faces with the assumption this could be a minor.
The Phoenix Agency and many others have ties with out of state agencies, promote tours and use the internet to set dates with traveling businessmen coming to town. These can be charged at a federal level, especially if enough money is thrown at the investigation. Local enforcement doesn't have this type of resource, but with the new initiatives, I think you'll be seeing larger nets and federal charges where they hadn't existed 2 years back.
Federal and local agencies are forming alliances with task forces: violent crimes units, city officers, state officers, FBI and homeland security for just this purpose.
None of what I've stated has anything to do with giving advise. These are just observations concerning the changes I'm seeing within this industry.
This was brought on by initiatives and money given to fight child prostitution and violent crimes. With the coordination of federal and local law, comes a much bigger net.
As seen in Chicago, many adults were arrested, not one child was rescued in this latest innocence lost effort.
If you find some legal advise in this post, please stop reading my posts. You're annoying
