I was busted a couple years ago in OC. Result was OK, plead to Disturbing the peace, 1 year probation, fine etc.
Arrest record of solicitation remains. What does expungement do for me? Is it possible? Will it remove my arrest from background checks if I want to change jobs?
We just went through this one a month or two back. Expungement erases your PUBLIC record not your rap sheet or record to LE. When applying for a job, you do not have to state expunged convictions. Exception: you're applying for an LE job or with an LE agency. I would bet too that security companies have the right to access your rap sheet, especially if you're job will require carrying a weapon.
Don't for get any job with any company that has a govt. contract, bowing, lockheed, etc...
I have a misdemenor from when I was 18, I know I can never pass the BAR because they will have full access to my record too.
Lets put it this way, it can always be found by anyone if they really want to find it.
Remember people who do background checks for companies ONLY get paid if they find some dirt so if you have an expungement they will report to your employer you were expunged for something, they might not be able to find the details, but your future employer will know you were convicted for something in the past...
Depending on the State, and depending on the type of conviction, as well as how long ago, you might still be admitted to practice law, as long as you pass the Bar in your State.
