Hi. I was arrested while visiting Chicago last week. LE sting operation downtown Chicago.
I need to retain an attorney and was wondering if anyone could help. I am from out of state so my next step would be to just find someone out of the phone book.
if that does not work, there is a better way than the Yellow Pages and that is to call the local office of the Bar Association and ask for a reference.
They will at least be able to refer you to a lawyer with experience in these types of matters.

Sorry that you got arrested; it is just unfortunate and a waste of taxpayer’s money. Well first off all, although the previous responses provide insight, not the best plan of action... From someone who is very connected within Chicago, the CPD, and the law community it is really going to depend on your record.
If this is your first arrest, or you have a minimal record your attorney can usually negotiate a class that you will have to take. Basically the judge issues a continuance until the class is completed, you have to sit through a class telling you the dangers, etc. etc. You go back to court with the completed form and the charges are dismissed. Again, this is if you have no record or a minimal one, not sure what your situation is.

OH my officer white at it again!!! Sorry to hear that! There use to be an atty that would email you if you did. Years ago my friend got arrested and I was working out there too. Yes you can make a ton of money there in downtown Chicago, however the cops are very ruthless down there. We were staying in Ambassador downtown. I did not get caught because they had bumped me to the presidental suite (this happens if they are overbooked and you have a corporate Amex they love ya!) and she did not tell them where I was (LE) Stay in chicago O hare or just outside the county line. Orlando and Columbia SC I always do this because the cops are rotten there. Good luck she ended up with probation and she never worked in chicago again! Angela
