is this your arraignment or is this trial?
If its just your arraignment, you dont need a lawyer. Plead not guilty and the judge will ask if you can afford an atty or if you need them to appoint you one. Go ahead and accept the court appointed lawyer for now, you can always dismiss him once you know you have a lawyer that you like and are comfortable with.
If this is trial - you should have had some time to get a lawyer before now ( which makes me think you are talking about an arraignment). Anyway, if it is trial and the judge gives you jail time, immediately ask for an appeal - it is your right to appeal the verdict and be heard in another court by a different judge. If you ask for an appeal be ready to pay a bail bondsmen as this will start a new case and they will need more money. (it will be what ever you paid the first time btw).

well im pleading NOT GUILTY, but im so confused. Some people tell me that I dont need a lawyer my 1st time and some are telling me that i MUST have on... aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh! its taking a burden on me! 
Do not plead guilty. At least have your lawyer get discovery, see what the LE statements & evidence is & if there's errors or omissions that might help you.
