Has anyone had any problems with backpage?

In Chicago, there's been a recent string of busts where LE used Craig's List & Backpage in a sting to nail providers & clients.   Check the link & beware.

There's more info on the Chicago busts on the Gen Discussion board (as well as the Chicago regional board).  --z

Balboa, this is from the article I linked to in my first post :
"The operation targeted the erotic sections of Craigslist.com and Backpage.com."

There is a long thread on the Chicago board (see link below) about a sting using an agency provider in Chicago. LE first busted the provider, brokered a deal with her to cooperate, then busted her clients booked for that day, one-by-one.  One of the clients busted was a TER member who started the thread.

LE may have used the same approach with the CL/BP providers.  One wonders when entrapment becomes relevant.    --z

I understand LE running an ad on CL or backpage for a provider but what kind of an ad would they run to sting a provider?  The ad would have to be a man looking for a provider to respond to his place of choice.  Frankly, I have never seen such an add.  What they do is contact providers who have ads on CL or Backpage and have the provider respond to their location the same way they have hobbyists respond to their location.  If you are aware of LE placing an ad wherein a man is asking for a provider to meet him I would like to know about it.  I responded to a CL ad that turned out to be a sting.  The details are in the thread I posted below.

BTW I try to verify info before I post on this board because I am sure some readers are guided by what they read in this forum and I would hate to be the one who passed along bogus information that got someone in trouble.

Balboa, I don't use CL or Backpage,  but both were mentioned in the article regarding the Chicago sting.  You can verify the information by reading the article that I linked to.

There wasn't a lot of info regarding how the sting was set up (for obvious reasons).   But three providers and half a dozen clients were busted.  I'm not sure what you're disputing here.  --z

Entrapment is not what most people assume it to be. It is a very specific legal defense that is rarely used and when used, it is often  not successful.  It is a defense where the defendant claims the government MADE me do this and not the government gave me the opportunity to do this.

I had no problems with backpage but I do know that so of the lady's are a cash and dash.
