A friend of mine is looking for some pro-bono help. Family matter, has mentally disabled child (mind of a six old) caught up in the criminal system, and is at a complete loss on what to do. Can't afford a lawyer. Bail refused, has not been allowed to see her daughter in nearly two weeks. She is alone and completely depressed about this. Amazing thing is no crime was committed and charges had been dropped.

You don't say what jurisdiction this is in.

If criminal charges have been dropped then there's nothing to bail her out of.

I suspect that Child Protective Services (or whatever it's called in your jurisdiction) is involved.  I would suggest calling legal aid or other social agencies that might be able to help at least establish what is actually going on.

You have not specified her connection to the hobby.  Is she a provider?  If discovered that could be a problem with CPServices.

This is a public forum.  You might want to set up a free e-mail account somewhere, post it here.  Then those with direct knowledge could communicate with you privately.  (When you're done, just close the account.)

Good luck to you.

Anytime CPS, DSS, or whoever is involved, that is not a good thing, and that must mean that something was going on with children. Either the kids were at risk or being harmed. But, we dont know the situation, and this probably wouldnt be the board for advvice on that matter. You can consult with some attorneys free at charge, and thats what I would do, and your conversation will be held with confidentiality! Good Luck!
