A Question on Avoiding LE Providers

I am probably the ultimate newbie to both the Hobby and TER. I've spent the last several days learning many of the acronyms and reading all of the message boards. I was quite taken by the depth and quality of many of the responses to this discussion board by TheFemaleLawyer and others. Pardon this rather naive question, but it's a twist on what I've previously seen due to its specificity. By the way, my question is purely hypothetical and solely for the sake of legal argument although I am not an attorney.

I've read on this and other TER boards that police can and do forge identification, lie creatively, and in some states can completely undress and arrest a person after having sex with them. I've read advice to the effect that one should not discuss money or acts with a provider, going to incall involves a finite assumption of risk of a raid, that one should look for a number of TER reviews over time to establish provider legitimacy, etc.

That said, with specific reference to the City of New York, is there a reliable way to determine if a potential provider is an LE? I would imagine this would need to take into account New York State Law, New York City Ordinances as well as established New York City Police procedures and guidelines. For example, in New York City, would a female officer undress?

Many thanks for shedding light on this hypothetical question!

With most of the cases I've heard of LE having sex with a "perp", it usually happens with male LE posing as hobbyists and busting a female provider.

The reverse situation seems far less likely, for any number of reasons. First, it's just basic biology, males, LE or not, need as much sex as they can get, and that's not the case for women. Second, imagine what would happen if the female LE became pregnant or infected with an STD while "on-the-job".

I should add that such LE practices are abhorrent. Why would there ever be any need for LE to have sex to make a prostitution arrest? Has this country degenerated into lunacy?

I'm from  a state where a male LE did the "sex then bust" thing.  Yeah it's pretty evil.  Fortunately, this guy's losing his job for it, and will probably get some criminal penalties for it (we're a lovely backwards southern state that would love to make all sex illegal, so he's bound to have violated some law).

Unfortunately, there's no bullet-proof way to find out if you're about to get busted by LE.  Any tactic that we come up with, LE will find out about and counter it (LE does read this and other boards).

(I am not a lawyer, so take this with all appropriate salt)

My advice would be the standards:
-Never mention sex on the phone.  You're probably asking about money, so don't mention sex.  And don't use code words either (like "French").  Code words like "French" are so common that it will be perfectly clear what you were asking for.  Besides, it's rude to talk about sex with a lady you haven't met.

-Never mention money while you're with the provider, including something like "here's your money" or "here's your donation".  Just put it down on a convenient table without saying anything.  If she says "Have you got my money" then alarm bells should start going off.

-You can probably trust that repeating with a provider is safe, because LE wouldn't bother to set up a sting using her as bait.  Of course "LE wouldn't bother" isn't a perfectly safe.

-Stay away from streetwalkers.  They're the ones LE likes to bust, because the results are very visible.  Some random woman and man in an apartment or hotel are not likely to generate complaints.

-Remember that nothing you do is perfectly safe, including driving your car.

Think again.  I saw this article & it worried me....
basically LE set up a sting after they busted a "shop" & lo behold they caught 2 of their own people!

In Los Angeles the LAPD Rampart scandal opened with a bunch of cops who kept an apartment where they took their provider GFs. Also took their provider GFs to Las Vegas for those weekend dates. At least 4 cops were in on the girls and apartment deal... Only two cops went down, and the main one was for possession of the c*caine he stole from the evidence room.

AFAIK the investigation (by LAPD of itself) was never released to the public, so theres no telling how many of the squad of >20 were actually keeping providers.
