After visiting Vegas over the past years and playing golf at the rate of $125.00 per round, I would like to know where the locals play. I know that you dont pay $125.00 everytime you go out. I would rather spend some of this money on the nice ladys of Vegas. Hope you can help in this matter.

If you want to save money on golf in Las Vegas, the first thing you do is forget week-ends, and golf durring the week if you can.  Secondly, tee off in the afternoon, instead of the morning.  (In the heat of the summer time this could be a problem, but if you can stand the heat, there are some great bargins on green fees.)

Some of the courses popular with us locals are:

Angel Park.  (angelpark.com)  Now till May 6 the mid-week after 2:00 pm rate is $75, from May 6 to May 31 it's $70, and June 1 to October 2 it's $45 after 11:00 am. (Rates are for non-residents of Clark County.)

Desert Pines (waltersgolf.com)  Now until June 6 mid-week after 4:00 pm is $50.  June 6 to August 25 after 2:00 pm is $40.

Black Mountain Country Club (golfblackmountain.com) One of my personal favorites, it's "semi-private," so week-ends are almost exclusively for members.  Non-members can play mid-week afternoons for $55.

I've played the above 3, and can recommend them.  Here's another one I'll mention:

Durango Hills (durangohilsgolf.com)  Their web site lists a mid-week rate of $30.  There was an article in the newspaper it recently, it's "underplayed," and suffers from mismanagement, according to the article.  How it effects the course, I do not know.

Have Fun!

I've played Angel Park and Black Mountain as well.  Angel Park is shorter and has more of a muni-feel to it.

The Legacy and Stallion Mountain are a couple of others worth at least calling.  I am in total agreement, forget weekends and play in the afternoon for the best rates.  Save some $$$ for off-course, in-room activites.

Is this a great sight or what. I just knew that the local boys would come thru for me. Thanks for your help.

Agree prices can be high -- but some of the courses are amazing.  I have played Angel Park and it is well worth the $70 mentioned.  Good fun course -- you would enjoy.

...dropping an e-mail to Ellyse Taylor. She is a fellow linkster (she even advertises "golf parties" on her website) who could probably offer some advice as to where the best bargains in southern Nevada can be found. Good luck, have fun, and FORE!
