Though I never had the pleasure of meeting him in person, I corresponded with him regularly...whether he was giving me a compliment or trying his best to ruffle my feathers, he was a radiant ray of light who never ceased to make me smile.

God Bless him and may he rest in Peace.....

I just came in from the cold (not in town right now) and did something to honor someone very dear to me that has left us, and he and Smarty had a few things in common.  As my eyes welled up briefly, I thought of them.  They were both men that I admired, although I didn't know Smarty for nearly as long.

A day doesn't go by that i don't think about Smarty after working with and talking to him almost daily for years. I usually head to vegas in january but  will pass it up this year, it just won't be the same not seeing him and having a meal together. Knowing the pain he was in the months before his passing, at least i know he is no longer suffering.

Smarty was one of the good guys.  He was a friend and sounding board.

What I would add....and it is the highest compliment I can give...I trusted him.

He was my compatriot on the boards.

Here's to you COLONEL
