I used to wonder why people in my current home town (Las Vegas, Nevada) hated my former home state (Utah) so much. I may have found out why. While reading the rag that passes for a newspaper in Utah I stumbled across this article (see link). Is it any wonder why TER doesn't have a Salt Lake City discussion board?
The Strip is just one of the many Las Vegases in Las Vegas. I try to stay away from it as often as possible (Palms or Hard Rock is close enough for me). It's a fantasyland for tourists. The writer, apparently knowing this going in, decided to bash away anyway.
I will agree with him, Americans who are not from either coast are generally, while mostly well intentioned, stupid, culturally devoid and ignorant people (Bill O'Reilly is the biggest ho in media. I'm waiting for him to blow W in times Square). But is that Vegas' fault?
I love where I live, have great neighbours, my house has proven to be a great investment, and everything I need is close by. It's not a place where I'd want to raise children, but overall the quality of life isn't that bad if you don't let the temptations get to you.
