Sorry for the non Hobby post but i'm headed to Vegas w/ the mrs. in Feb and we were looking for a restaurant that is different than any other run of the mill fancy shmancy restaurant out there. Anyone have any suggestions?
in Vegas. Other then something different from the run of the mill fancy shmancy restaurants what are you looking for? I eat some great meals at real different type places this year and over the years I've found lots of great places to eat.
I'm looking for something not too crazy expensive and hopefully to find an atmosphere which u dont get anywhere other than in vegas, maybe a great view of the city or some crazy nutty waiters...not really sure, i've been to plenty of nice restaurants but they all become one and the same with food as the only differential.
I like the Melting Pot . The Marrakech is awesome. Some of the places I go to are almost dives M & M Soul Food is such a place, but the food is out of this world. Paymon's is a great place, Lotus of Siam is wonderful, and I found this place Mint Indian Bistro this trip that has outstanding food, and if you like beer the beer menu is second to none.
or how about Zagat Las Vegas
The internet, don't leave home without it.
Nothing like old school, where the Rat Pack drank Martinis and...well...did other fun things!

http://www.caposrestaurant.com/ MY favorite! Styled like a Speakeasy...tricky to find the door to get in and so dim the menus have mini flashlights.
Enjoy!!!
towards Piero's..Great Osso bucco.. (if your not a vegan) enjoy
Lovely Lorena de leon
I liked the dinner we had at the Eiffel Tower restaurant better. Totally romantic atmosphere. Get a table overlooking the fountains.
Awesome, will def look into these as well.
Here is another old school Vegas place:

Not knowing what type Restaurant that is of interest to you my recommendation is Morels French Steakhouse and Bistro at the Pallazzo.
Not only do they have a fabulous menu but also offer an iced seafood bar and a cheese and charcuterie bar with more than 30 cheeses, salami and meats from around the world.
They also won Wine Spectators 2010 Award for Best Excellence with more than 60 fine wines offered by the glass.
Good Luck !

I hope the link above is helpful. I'll be staying at the Cosmopolitan in Jan/Feb and I cant find a single restaurant review for the hotel. If you like chocolate, check out Jean Philippe's store. http://www.jpchocolates.com/ There's a chocolate fountain - youtube it.
Have fun,
Phil
I liked China Poblano. It's a neat concept mixing Chinese and Mexican. It's more moderately price vs the likes of Savoy/Robuchon. Be aware that seating is at communal tables.
Fortunately, there are still some good restaurants not located in casinos but the recent dive in the Las Vegas economy may put most of them at risk. I just have a couple of suggestions:
If you like Cuban food, try The Florida Cafe. I ate my first Cuban food in Key West many years ago so I know what is good. One of my Cuban friends tells me this place is better than any place in Miami.
I can't post internet links here because admin does not allow it but here is the address.
1401 Las Vegas Boulevard South
Las Vegas, NV 89104-1327
(702) 385-3013
Google Florida Cafe Las Vegas and their website should show.
For Italian, you can't do better than The Sicialian Cafe on East Tropicana.
3520 East Tropicana Avenue
Las Vegas, NV 89121
(702) 458-2004
Google Sicialian Cafe Las Vegas and they will pop up.
If you like authentic Chinese, Sam Woo is, imo, the very best.
4215 Spring Mountain Rd # B101
Las Vegas, NV 89102-8746
(702) 368-7628
If you think Panda Express is good, DO NOT go there. Again, google Sam Woo Las Vegas for the website.
