References aren't the end of the world.  Since it's already Feb, time's a wasting.  Pick a small handful of ladies that interest you and make contact with your desired date & time.  Explain your newbie status, and offer up some screening info.  Many ladies request specific stuff.  Do your best to pony it up.

I agree with Phil.  Most reputable GFE providers have  experienced this and have other ways to make themselves comfortable meeting and spending time with you.  Not all but a majority.  I also know that there is a number of men who would prefer not to share any information.  Not even their real names.

My humble opinion:  If you are dealing with a reputable provider with a consistent history - you should be comfortable providing basic information.  Our reputation is as important as our performance. Date Check and Preferred 411 are popular options that a lot of local providers use.  Room Service 2000 is another option although it's more popular in the midwest.  Provided you're a good client, using these services will help get you through the screening process with many reputable providers.
