I have stayed at both and will try and include all options.

1. Room Access : THEHOTEL wins this one, no security. Unless you are a person who likes to dress nice, need a provider at a bar, then Cosmo is better.

2. Room Amenities: COSMO, The balcony during summertime heat is amazing. They also have sitting area and much better Technology (HD TV, control lighting, drapes via TV etc)

3. "other activites": COSMO, I try and prepare for the unexpected. Example: you decide to have dinner with your provider...then COSMO have some great options and closer than THEHOTEL options.

4. EAST SIDE COSMO: If you get room on the East Tower, you even have the ability to come down from your room, straight into the restaurant floor without ever going into the casino.

5. Access to Hotel: THEHOTEL...almost a toss up; but with Cosmo you have to navigate traffic to get to the garage (although coming down Harom is very easy). For a provider I would say THEHOTEL is easier due to its location at the end of the strip.

Summary
Both are very nice - usually when the selection is a toss-up (slight edge to COSMO) you have 2 choices.

1. Decide based on room rate, which means THEHOTEL will be cheaper
2. Let your provider decide (probably my option - as I want her to enjoy our time together as much as I do)

Seriously you cannot go wrong with either; The Hotel is quieter and Cosmo has a major buzz going.

I'm planning my next trip back to Vegas and was trying to decide if I wanted to go back to the Cosmopolitan or check out The Hotel this time.  I enjoyed the Cosmo (and really enjoyed the terrace), but I prefer when my date can come just straight up to my room without dealing with security.  So how is The Hotel these days?

The Hotel is very nice. There is no security at The Hotel or Mandalay Bay, so your date will be able to come straight up. As far as the Cosmo goes, i had a birds eye view of the Bellagio fountains and strip from my room. No view in Vegas could match it. I actually don't mind going down to the casino to meet my ladies, so the security aspect does not bother me at all. Also, remember that The Hotel is a boutique hotel and you have to go to walk to Mandalay Bay for dining and entertainment options.

....but the rooms with the balconies at Casmo, overlooking Bellagio and accross-the-street from Eiffel Tower, are much more fun to Hobby in!

The Suites are very comfortable  and  is very easy to get in and out of.
I like the fact that it is a little quieter than most strip hotels.

If you walk out of the THEhotel toward the parking ramp, take a left you'll have a very short walk to a "back" entrance to Mandalay Bay's restaurants.  Much shorter than walking through the casino.

The view from the MIX nightclub on top of THEhotel is awesome.

great place.  As mentioned before is quieter than some of the other hotels.  TheMix club is awesome as well.

...because of the casino-free environment and you still have the all the Mandalay Bay and Four Season restaurants/pools/spas, etc.  and the suite style rooms are fabulous!
The Cosmo is the new hot place, I'm sure you wouldn't go wrong.
Have fun!

Thank you everyone for your thoughts.

Also, thank you Alicia, I'm very curious to hear the providers preferences.

Cosmo, the bars are great and clubs are #1. Many great places to eat and great people watching. Needing a key card to get up is the only draw back.
If seek a more laid back quiet place and easy for your company to access then The Hotel is great. Its tucked away from Mandalay bay but still offers all of the food and clubs and a small bar.
Unless there's a big event going on they won't have security at the elevators.

With the right lady , anywhere you choose to stay will be a blast.

Enjoy

Select a lady from TER and you cannot go wrong. Have fun.

I love the new Cosmopolitan. From their wicked, naughty advertising, to Marquee (the most amazing dance club, on the weekends), and balconies from which you can view the Bellagio Fountains whilst being seduced from behind, leaning over the railing...

I do love the ease of access to The Hotel and the suites are all great. I like the Mix up on the top floor and the restaurant up there is awesome too... Plus one of my favorite Casino Bars is in the Mandalay next door. They always have great rock and roll bands and the bartenders pour awesome drinks...

Let me know if you need a concierge whilst you are in Vegas!!!

Easy access for those wishing to visit you and no security issues.  Great rooms.  Stayed there three times so far and will stay there when I return in the fall.

I love the suites at theHotel.

If you like to play, MB is a better casino.
