If you want to enjoy all the fun stay north of MGM . You can get deals from all the casinos right now, just do a little shopping. You've gotten a lot of good advice, in the end do what makes you happy . YOLO !
It's Right on the strip. Just, south, of the big consentration, of casinos. The strip is, ofically, Las nVegas Blvd. Good room value, for the money. Lots of places to go and eat, if you go up the strip, twards Mandalay Bay and Luxor. Security at elevators, after 6 or 7pm. They are not intrusive.
A way to avoid the security issues is to meet the lady downstairs for a drink, go up together, and then escort her to the Valet. I consider this simple curtesy. Takes off all the heat.
The "strip" generally refers to Las Vegas Boulevard from Sahara Avenue in the North to Russell Road in the South (Russell Road is just South of Mandalay Bay).
I have been told that the rooms are nice, but on the same level of quality as newer Best Western or Holiday Inn.
South Point is 6-1/2 miles South of Mandalay Bay. To give you a perspective, the length of the entire strip is about 4-1/2 miles.
I have made the trek down to do a walk through the Casino. If is a nice interior, but not the opulence of Wynn, Aria, etc. They tend to host rodeo style events. The gift shop does allow you to buy some sundries at a reasonable price (at least by casino standards).
The rates are very reasonable, but have a plan to deal with transporation if you plan on heading North. A taxi ride, with tip, will cost $23 one way to Mandalay Bay. The buses on the Strip do not go that far south.
Michael's is supposed to be a very nice gourment restaurant and the property offers bowling and a movie theater for entertainment.
I haven't stayed there because the transportation costs. Going anywhere else in Las Vegas increases the cost of transportation. If you rent a car in LV, you can lower those costs.
It's owned by the best casino owner in Vegas. A very good casino family. The employees are happy there. I like the horse rink. Went to a great gun show there once and most importantly..it's where my ex walked out on me for the final time and opened a whole new world of experiences for me!!
The rooms aren't great but I have not been in a suite there yet.
I did an overnight with a provider there and she went down to the casino after and won $1500. She had a VERY good night. That was fun, doll!
I saw lots of cleavage at "M" casino. The off strip hotels throw out the red carpet. Nobody would stay there if they didn't. The best video poker pay tables I've seen are downtown.

I took the bus there once from the strip, you transfer half way
The Casino features downtown odds and the waitresses wear corsets and all of them have big tits, really it's a feast of cleavage.

Its a little off the beaten path, and not as opulent as some of the other casinos directly on the strip, but they have many great musicians that play there, horse shows, the Jerry Lewis Telethon is taped there every year, and it won't beat up your wallet.
You'll enjoy it. Lots of locals go there too. No security that I know of at the elevators. Not when I have been there. I lived in Vegas for more than 15 years.
