The double-edged sword of TER...

Don't get me wrong - TER is a priceless source of information and a great community.  And reviews are invaluable in establishing legitimacy and trust, especially during times like these when LE is so hot many people are scared.  But the other side to TER is this...false reviews.  I am fortunate that my reviews are pretty good, but there are some legitimate reviews that describe activities that never happened - such as greek.  I even have one review that is completely fabricated.  I never met the man and he describes numerous things that I have never done, such as "taking care of business", which is so subtle and discreet there is nothing to it at all.  He also says I went directly to his hotel room and I changed in the bathroom.  Neither of these things have I ever done.  I did PM him, but of course no response.  I did not even bother support with it because the user has dozens of reviews.  I have heard some users write false reviews just to get credit toward their membership.  Is that true?  Seems rather petty as the membership is so little each month.  Anyway, that was a couple months ago.

The reason I am writing now is this:  This morning I received and email from a person claiming to be a TER VIP from Orange County.  The page of my website where he got the email address clearly states not to ever discuss rates, but he quotes them in his email.  He also totally bypassed the appointment request form on my site and gave me no information to screen him in the email he sent.  He went on to tell me he was a TER VIP and he would write me a great review.  (On a side note, isn't that somehow against TER policy - offering a great review when you haven't even met a provider yet?)  Well, I wrote him back and tactfully, but firmly, explained he needed to fill out the form on my site and he must not be discussing rates.  I was a little hesitant to send it though.  I do have some fear that he will be put off and retaliate by posting a bad review for me.  If he truly is a TER VIP, what can I do about that?  Has anyone else had similar problems or have advice as to handle such situations?

I do realize one bad review is not the end of the world, but its not great either.  My reviews have been slow coming lately. It may be partly because many of the men I have seen have had trouble getting them posted - or so they have told me.  I respect that TER has strict guidelines for reviews, but due to them I have had countless clients contact me to say they tried to post a review, but it was denied due to lack of detail or some other reason.  So a bad review is not something I would like to have on my profile.

Thanks in advance for any response or advice!  :-)

First, off your doing the right thing by posting this.  Second, don't ever let anyone dictate how you should run your business.  Third, stand firm and follow your gut as far as screening, if it don't feel right don't do it.

Do not do something you are not comfortable with. Seasoned TER VIP's should never request info about rates over the phone or e-mail. hell sometimes not even in person.
Stay safe. maybe you should report this guy in a ladies forum or here. Talk to TER Staff about your fake review...and let them handle it.

Good luck

If I'm considering seeing a provider, I always read all her reviews. If she has 8 or 10 good ones, especially if one or more are written by someone who regularly posts on the boards, and 1 bad one, it's pretty easy to ignore the negative. I don't doubt there are guys who write bogus reviews, probably good ones, just to earn credits. One solution would be if ter staff could include something as to whether a reviewer was a vip when the review was written. A vip's review would certainly carry more weight for me, as he has no reason to fake anything. P.S. If a provider has, say, 5 reviews, and 1 is fake, good or bad, it's not that hard to spot it.

I share your frustration with TER at times on some of these issues. It is frustrating at times and it makes you think if TER has lost some of its objectivity.

I have a dear friend that went through a major ordeal with fake reviews on two occassions in the past 2 1/2 years and some posts that were "flames" on her while she toured. I e-mailed TER support about these and the response was inconsistent and slower than I would have liked at times with regard to the investigation and removal of reviews as well as screening reviews on that provider to ensure their validity. They never did anything about the posts that "flamed" her appearance as being fat. Believe me, she is one of the most beautiful ladies I have ever met and a size 8 or 9 with a 36DD is far from fat!

Hang in there, dear! These things shall pass.

we are dealing with the public. Sometimes it takes a lot of patience and an open mind. Some of the GUYS may not really be GUYS, and who really cares what people say?
If you are conducting your biz and making money and happy with it, then there's no reason to fret over the small stuff.
There are a lot of games being played, here and everywhere. I just ignore it. I'm happy, I ask for what I want and I get it.
My life is awesome, and some of the people that come here to this site help make it that way and no one could ever take it from me.
I am not so leary as to need screening and forms. Yes, there has to be some discussion of rates, and life does has risks and so does this biz, how can a go around having fun and meeting the men I meet and being afraid of everyone?
Of course, I do mave around, and I like to travel to men and don't think LE is gonna buy me an airline ticket so they can catch me, but if they do, well hey then I'm caught.

I spend a lot of time writing and talking to clients, and some of them are a waste of my time, but then there is always the gems that make up for it.

I love my GEMS.
best wishes Heather
