I welcome thoughts, comments, suggestions, pros and cons on visiting Sheri's or Chicken Ranch.
They're in Pahrump, about an hour and 10 min. drive, west on NV160. No legal hassle, can be a bit pricy. You get a lin-up, to check out who is available. Bad news is after 'partying', you have the 70 min. drive back to vegas. Good luck and hunting.
I was invited to a ranch (decided against it) but spent overnite at Sheri's in Pahrump, they have a "separate" motel section...so you can stay overnite. Very reasonable rates..and very clean! PS. Pahrump also has a very good winery and restaurant!
Still visiting the strip Aug 21 - 24...

I know Speed Racer will have some good info since he's seems to be an expert on the topic. Here's some info to start (and some of it may be off):
Pros:
legal to exchange money for sex
safe sex
sex workers tested weekly
meet them before discussing/negotiating services
line up
24/7
Incall only
No upselling (once price is negotiated), never a no show/no call.
You can walk away if you want.
Cons:
Drive up NV Rt 160 is roughly 1 hour each way.
Taxi/limo drivers get "toked" which can increase your costs, even if it was a free ride.
Not cool if you get drunk there and drive back.
Limited selection doesn't tickle your fancy (licensed brothels have a maximum number of sex workers available at any one time).
Sex workers at the Pahrump brothels tend to work on volume.
Sex workers at the Pahrump brothels generally work for services rendered rather than by time (negotiable).
Safe sex (covered everything (even covered DATY), generally no kissing)
Can be rejected after checking out your package under a bright light.
Menu prices tend to be high and you should negotiate lower rates. Might be distasteful to some. There is a minimum house fee that the sex workers must earn.
Costs tend to be higher than indies.

When you start negotiating, ask for more than you really want. You have to have room to come down.
I went there once last year. Asked for 2 pops with some russian thrown in somewhere. She first quoted $8,000. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? Obviously a tactic to make me think that whatever price she came down to was a bargain.
Eventually got down to $500 for one pop without the russian. Drove home feeling like I got taken. I expected to pay more than off the ranch, but for $500 I would hope to have had more of a fantasy, or at least gotten more of what I wanted.
Next time (if there is one) I am going to start by asking for 3 pops, starting with Greek, and a bubble bath in between. Maybe I can negotiate down to 2 pops with russian for a good price.

But people reading this should know that not EVERY brothel courtesan is such a hard-nosed negotiator (or even a "platinum pussy"). Many are willing to party for much, much more reasonable rates - lower that even ComradeM ended up paying. Negotiations are a necessary evil at most legal brothels, but rarely go as poorly as his apparently did.

Great summary, Bob! Only other things I'd add on the "pro" side are that (1) most brothels have specialty "equipment & facilities" that the average indie doesn't always have access to (e.g., dungeons/BDSM rooms, Sybians, sex chairs/swings, Jacuzzi rooms/Spa facilities, etc.); (2) you can maintain total anonymity if you pay cash at a legal brothel - as long as you're over 18/21 (depending on the house) and don't get carded; and (3) no provider references and/or pre-screening are required, other than the required "DC" (dick check).
Another "pro" for the Pahrump houses (and many of the others elsewhere in NV) is that if you DON'T like the selection of ladies available at the time you visit, there is a competing house right next door (or within a less than one mile radius elsewhere in the state).
For everyone else reading this, I must stress that I patronize both legal brothels AND indie escorts. Like most things in life, there are advantages and disadvantages to both. I have no financial interest in any of the houses (I don't even live in NV, but visit frequently).
Finally, if anyone needs directions and accurate maps to any of Nevada's legal brothels, please do a web search on the keywords "Speed Racer's LPIN Driving Directions". Good Pros & Cons however I will have to respectfully disagree with you on the your "No upselling" in your Pros list. There has been a lot of upselling in my experience. Years ago prices were generally cheaper, of course everything else was also but even taking inflation into account, the prices in the brothels have gone up considerably in my opinion. I've generally seen and heard I'd say average $1000+ starting out of the gate in this day and age; even negotiating down some from those lofty levels will still cost you. Too expensive IMHO for what you get. Now if money is no object to you, then go for it, godspeed. My personal opinion and suggestion is still to go with the non-agency independent ASP in the LV area (there are many, many more to choose from than the cattle call line up at the ranch)--from which of course you can use TER as a good screening resource. I'd say with today's $s you can find a pretty decent independent ASP in the LV area in the $300 ==> $600 range--but you do have to do your due diligence and shop around, even on TER.
Sheri's is like a PT's Pub with women hanging around the bar who are willing to fuck you. If you just end up hanging out at the bar, have something to eat, a couple drinks with the chicks and a game of pool, you're out virtually nothing. My advice is to never go there bound and determined to get laid. Play it cool and opportunities sometimes present themselves. The last time I was there, I was ready to fuck a nice Greek girl named Athena for 300, but my buddy wanted to leave and I didn't want to make him wait for me. The last time I paid, it was 300 for CBJ, FS, and russian. I never saw a woman run so fast to the the bathroom to wash the cum off of her, lol.
I think there is a complimentary limo.
