Is there a website or other resource I can use to compare policies on comps for the various casinos? I've tried the standard search engines and come up dry.
There really isn't much out there. You can try hitting up Jean Scott and her Frugal Gambler website since she's also known as the Queen of Comps. For slots/video poker play, since it's based on tracking via a card in the machine at the time you play, they usually have comps listed based on your play. You can usually find out what the ratio is of points to comp dollars (or real dollars in some cases) by inquiring at the individual casinos.
A lot of the higher end comps are special arrangements between the casino host and the gambler although you can hit up the various places and ask the host what kind of table play you need for a free room, meals, etc. It will vary based on the host and casino.
I do not believe I am getting the same level of comps I used to before the merger based on the same play. I am gonna have to check and see what the deal is.. Maybe I just have not reached my old cumulative level since the merger. Plus they are not nearly as hobby friendly as they used to be. That really sucks. I am gonna have to find a new place.
Looks like Harrah's is being bought out for 16.7 Billion dollars by Apollo Management Group and Texas Pacific Group. Deal could be announced as soon as Tuesday.
call the casino of your choice .. and talk directly to a host ..... every casino has a different comp system and rating scale.
One casino may have a 4 hour min. with a per hand rate of 100 and that gets you full RFB at another casino that may just cover a buffet for one ...lol.....
Each casino has their own formula for calcuating the players theoretical win, which is what fuels comps. What most people also to fail to realize is that the percentages go down depending on the game you play. Dice and Baccarat give you the highest percentages with BlackJack coming in a close third. Carnival games like Let it Ride and PaiGow don't give you shit. I'm constantly having to explain to customers that even tho they just spent 6 hours on a PaiGow table with a $25.00 average bet, they aren't entitled to much. We had a guy the other night averaging 900.00 a hand on Three Card Poker and when he asked for 4 comps to the buffet I had to override the computer because there was hardly anything in his account. Frustrating to say the least - I don't care what game you are on with that kind of average, you and your party deserve to eat at the very least!
I don't know whats out there as far as online resources. The first thing I tell a player when they come in is to get set up with a host. It's amazing to me how many big players don't know thats the way to go.
Bottom line in the pit; There is no 'point' system such as the one they have when it comes to slots. It's all up to me basically....LOL just don't piss me off!
Any recommendations? I hear that sometimes the payoffs are better at places the locals play. Now that the big corps that own casinos are getting bigger and bigger and fewer and fewer, it is getting more difficult.
