Cosmo vs. MGM & Pool Dates

I am headed to Vegas June 13-16 for a conference at MGM.  Based on research here and on other sites, I am thinking of staying at the Cosmopolitan instead.

I like the idea of a terrace with a fountain view and a Japanese soaking tub (curious to see if it is just a fancy name for a bathtub!!).  I am in my late 40s and long past my party days but I do love to people watch and The Chandelier seems like my speed.

I am looking to spend some time unwinding at the pool to relax, people watch and have a few drinks.  Is it too hot in June and is the Cosmopolitan pool a good place to hang out at?  I will also be looking for a companion for a day at the pool and see several wonderful options.

Is there anything I am missing by not staying at MGM?

Thanks for any help and I look forward to meeting a few of the ladies in June.

Oh yes June here in Vegas is a scorcher!Have your sun block and cold drinks ready you will need them.
I do not have any experience regarding the pools at the Cosmo but there is a thread on this page that makes mention to a few of the different pools here in Vegas might want to check that out.
IMO,you are not missing out on anything if you do not book at the MGM if I had to choose Cosmo hands down.
It is new, fresh, awesome rooms, view, and who can forget the balconies for those who might want to indulge in some naughty fun out doors! The nightclub and the restaurants are also a plus.
Good luck to you

MGM has a "party pool" called Wet Republic, and then the normal pool area. I haven't been to Wet Republic, but I did use the regular pool. It was nice, but nothing to write home about compared to what other venues have to offer. Wet Republic sounded from afar like spring break.

I've only been to one of The Cosmo pools, and it was at night. Marquee is their nightclub/dayclub and it has a realyl nice pool area and bar. They also have a regular pool which I saw from above and it seems a little small. My impression is The Cosmo will be a little more upscale and less rowdy.

The Chandelier is an awesome bar and one of my favorite spots in Vegas to go for a drink, a cigar, or just a place to sit and enjoy the view!

Hey Hun!
The Cosmo I think is one of the best options. It's new & cool.
As for the pools OMG they are so fun!! I haven't been to the Marquis day club yet but it sounds cool, plus worst case you can always go to another casino's pool :)
As for fun... I'd love to hang out with ya!!

though, I find the MGM to be kind of a dump in comparison; it's definitely had it's day...

The Cosmo is brand spanking new...
The pools are great; my fave is Bambu, as it is quiet and not filled with so many loud partiers.  June is the perfect time to enjoy.
The Chandelier and Book&Stage are great places to hang and people watch.

you've got the right idea!

Have fun!

The new rooms are super nice. I stayed in a new suite on my last visit. NICE!!

I always stay there I'm a member and get super rates. Just feel so comfortable there I know where everything is located.

I've always stayed at MGM or NYNY (if on a tight budget) and enjoyed it, and, like you HobieCat, felt loyal because of my 'M Life' membership. Was there a few weeks ago and stayed at Aria for the 1st time, and it was soooo much better! Things have really swung to that part of The Strip it seems. The Aria, Cosmo, Wynn, Bellaggio, and even Caesar's seemed busy and happening. MGM, NYNY and even Mandalay Bay seemed really dead. Just basing this on the vibe and atmosphere of the crowd. Oh, and Luxor...noticeably dead!

Especially love the rooms with the balconies! Go for it! The views over the Bellagio water fountains are fabulous and one of my favorite things is to be bent over while watching so if you need some company!!!

Marquee is great. Was there last Friday night.

My favorite pools to hang during the day at Bare at the Mirage and the adult topless pool at Wynn/Encore (forget which it is). They even have a craps table there. Way cool...

Chandelier is a fun spot for people watching, especially all the hotties coming and going up the escalator... always wanted to go up while someone was watching and bend over with no panties on and give a good show!

I'm in town if you want company!!!

Kiwi's thinking of the topless pool at Encore.

Nothing beats a day at a topless pool with Kiwi, especially when you can be up close to $1,000 while she is rubbing against you as your lucky charm.

Thanks for all of the great responses and introductions from many of the beautiful women in Vegas.  I followed my gut and your advice and booked a 1 bedroom suite with a fountain view at the Cosmopolitan.  Now comes the fun part of deciding on a pool date, a Chandelier date and a dinner date.  See you in June.

Balcony overlooking the fountains to use as much as possible. The weather will be nice and warm in the evening.

You will really enjoy the room and the view.

Have a wonderful time
