I really prefer 3 card poker over Black Jack, not smart enough to figure out craps.

Damn, I'd love to win 4-500 to have additional session with one of Vegas's finest.

how are the slots at Mandalay Bay ? Any recommendations on loosest slots in town ?

& believe me, I say this from bitter experience.
VERY tight over the last 15 years;if you must try the "1 armed bandits",the downtown casinos like The El Cortez would be your best bet. Otherwise, unless you wanna lose your "hobby money, better odds if you'd hit the craps & blackjack tables.

Stay away from any bet in the middle of the table, and back your pass line bet with odds. Congratulations, you now have some of the best odds in the casino on any game of chance.

(Theoretically, don't pass with odds is slightly better, which is betting that the shooter will roll craps or seven out, but I'm not a darksider- I'd rather cheer for the shooter. Makes for a fun table that way if the shooter wins.)

3 card poker has some of the worst odds for the bettor. The only games in this town that will give you CLOSE to even odds are craps, and blackjack. You have the best odds by seeing one of the well reviewed ladies here in Vegas. That's your best bet!!!!

It's not the first time I heard about loose slots at this casino The El Cortez :) ... some told me MGM has better looser blackjack table games than Wynn,Mandalay... some asian geeks sit there and count cards :) god  , my brain will explode doing that :(   lol

I've heard your odds are better at places like O'Sheas and Cowboy Bill's than the high end casinos like Casear's and Mandalay Bay.

Any truth to that ?

If you're playing for smaller stakes (say less than $25 on a blackjack table), the smaller and less glamorous joints tend to offer better rules and odds so the house vig is less than a classier casino.

You said you play 3 card poker and if they change anything, it's probably the payouts for bonus hands.  So your payout at Mandalay Bay or Caesars Palace (FYI notice there's no apostrophe in Caesars) might not be as big as O'Sheas or Bill's Gamblin' Hall & Saloon.

For the high rollers, they usually have better payouts and rules on their tables and machines.  Still, the casinos have an edge on every games being offered.

There's only a few games that have the potential of a positive expectation over the long haul: Blackjack, video poker, race & sports betting, poker.  The major difference between the casinos and the stock market is that the casinos can refuse your bet (or in live poker, players can refuse to play at your table) while the market won't back you off because you're a winner.  Over the short haul, you might be a big winner or lose it all but to the casinos, they have the odds to their favor and they can ride out the short term volatility.

Best advise:  learn how to play each game you enjoy and know what the good bets are so you minimize your long term losses.  Don't forget to tip the dealers and wait staff.

those machines are becoming scarcer and scarcer as more knowledge about video poker is available. You still have to know how to play the correct strategy to have a long term edge.

The Palms offers a quarter Deuces Wild progressive that starts out at 100.76% payout. Even with 6 seats on the bank, it's still tough to get a seat during the day or early evening. A skilled player can make about $10/hr playing it.

The deal with El Cortez is that they use many rookie dealers, and rookie dealers make a lot of mistakes; flash cards, deal too many cards (so the counters have a bigger edge), pay losing hands, etc. Don't know if "loose" if the right term, but a skilled player would find the playing conditions very friendly, as long as he wasn't betting more than $20/hand. Any higher, it becomes less friendly pretty quickly lol.
