What's with security on strip?

1st trip to Vegas coming up and I've read a few times references in posts and reviews to security in reference to "getting by them" or "rushing past".  I would assume it just means that there are locations where you need a room key to get past?  My assumption would also be that as long as I've got a room key it doesn't matter who I've got with me.  Correct?

I mean this is Vegas after all and this is still the good old USofA!

Casinos are private property, and as such, they have the right to ask anyone to leave, at any time, for any reason.  Failure to do so can result in an arrest for trespassing.

If that were a regular occurrence, the tables, machines and bars would be pretty sparse, so they do tolerate a lot.  Harrahs is pretty much the only place on record that is a major pain in the ass to providers.  Many of the ladies have had issues with a property here or there, and aren't welcome back but that shouldn't be a big deal.

Many properties have security at the elevator area, to keep non-guests from starting trouble and upsetting the guests.  Typically, if you have a room key in one hand, and the hand of a lovely lady in the other, you'll be fine.
