I wasn't guessing or bsing...I was just adding my .02 from my experience with these hotels. I guess I should have mentioned I am still fairly new to Vegas..only a few months here and there are others here who obviously know more than I do.
I too have been at the Monte Carlo in the last couple of weeks and both times a room key was required to get onto the elevator, so I guess it depends on the day and time.
In the future I will leave the advice on such matters to those who know better and just keep minding my own business. Don't want to step on any toes in the future...
have a great one..

Has the security changed at hotels making it harder for the girls to get into the hotels. I know that the Monte-carlo did not have any security at the elevators. Has this change since Sept 11th.
I stayed at the Monte- Carlo this December, no security at the elevators.
on a variety of factors. Most of the larger hotels have security at the elevators from 9pm. The Venetian, Bellagio, Luxor, Mandalay Bay all do. The Monte Carlo does also, usually after 10pm, but on the weekends it can start as early as 9pm.
One of the other factors is what is going on in town at the time. Security at the hotels is alittle tighter this weekend due to the Nascar race. The bigger conventions always brings a tighter reign on who is allowed upsatirs in the hotels.
Your best bet is to make arrangements with your provider before hand to meet in the lobby or the bar...good luck to you hun.

The only two major changes in security has been increase presence of Metro Vice in some hotels and valet parkers checking the trunks of cars during high profile conventions (Comdex and CES).
I was at the Monte-Carlo 3 days ago and they don't have any security checkpoints at the elevators - they never did. Same goes with Mandalay Bay - no checkpoints. Excalibur has a checkpoint (mainly at night). Rio has a checkpoint in their Masquerade Suites (prevent people from sneaking into Voodoo Lounge without paying) but not sure about the other tower.
Other major hotels that require a hotel key (24/7 checkpoints): Luxor (Pyramid Suites), MGM, Belagio, Mirage, Venetian, and Caesars Palace.

YOU GUESS it depends??? With all this Earthball of experience you should be a little more careful how you present your information. It was misleading and inaccurate. At least I double checked my facts on security and was more detailed.
I never claimed to have an Earthball of experience as you put it so eloquently. I was mearly trying to help. You obviously know more about this than I do and i will leave it up to you in the future to point out the facts as you detailed them.
Cheesewiz - perhaps you could shed some light on the Downtown hotels such as 4 Queens, Golden Nugget etc.? Inquiring minds want to know!!! Thanks.
Papa G...OUT!!
I have no idea. It's been nearly a year since I went to a downtown casino.
Four Queens, Golden Nugget, Horseshoe don't have security checks at elevators (or didn't in the last month). Security profile is pretty fluid and part of their posture is unpredictability to keep people guessing. However, some of the hotels (i.e., 4 Queens) which had security @ elevators for years, eliminated the positions for financial reasons.
HI everyone!! Since I am starting back to work again I just thought I would ask a question to get familiar with the lay of the land....do locals go to hotels or just meet somewhere for a drink or use outcall to their house! And for visiting guests they are expecting you can't you just have the security call them to let you past?? Or is it really a big problem?? well just wanted to make a comment really!! Hi Lass!! Happy St Patricks day!!!
