Some downtown hotels...

I come to town from the Midwest 3-4 times per year. I like to stay downtown. Lower limit tables are more fun for me.  Enjoy the nightlife.  I like the Golden Gate (suite preferred) but wondering about other downtown hotels that are hobby friendly.

They have all kinds of different rooms/ budgets catered for, Rush Tower is nice.
Great onsite eateries.
Easy location, opens onto fremont so you can walk to other casinos
simple access for providers.
Can never go wrong with the nugget.

Golden Nugget all of the towers have been remodeled.
The Downtown Grand has been remodeled the whole casino/rooms it is the old Lady Luck hotel.More modern feel to the rooms now.
The D it is ok but the rooms were small in my opinion.
If I had to choose out of the selection downtown hotels I would go with Golden Nugget.
There is the Plaza hotel across the street from the Golden Nugget but even with the remodel I don't like this hotel the rooms are not good.
Good luck have fun!
xoxo

Never have had any problem accessing rooms; security hasn't been an issue. Also, the rooms are lovely ;)
