There is always a deal somewhere in Vegas as the hotels that dont have a convention, and therefore full rooms, still have the rooms to fill.
Try the travel websites starting with Vegas.com but try others as well as it is amazing the diffrent prices quoted from one site to another for the same room at any given time. At this early date Im sure you will be able to beat the Harrahs deal though, as bchilson said, deals often dont come up til you get closer to the actual date you have in mind.
Lots of nice hotels to choose from.

Ballys, Paris, Flamingo, Ceasars, Mandalay, Monte Carlo. these hotels don't usually ask for room keys. However, if you let the provider of your choice know what hotel you are planning on staying at.. in many cases she can arrange to already have a rm key, so getting into ANY hotel shouldn't be a problem.

The hotels that are most strict on the rm key policy are: TI, Venetian, Wynn, Rio (depending on the day/time), Harrahs and a few others.

I seen a hobbyist at the South Coast recently and they weren't too bad with the rm key thing and the rooms are actually very nice and spacious. They are just a little farther down the strip then some people would like... but it's more about what you have in mind in doing while you are in Vegas!

A really good program to d/l is travelaxe.com   It will search several different websites and will list the prices found. You can then click on the best rate and it will take you to that website. When you log into the program it will ask for a email address,,you don't have to enter one. You can just hit login and it will do it.
I've used that program several times and then I'll go to the hotels websites to see if I can get a better deal. Most of the time I can.

also can't you just meet the provider downstairs and then walk up together to the room,

But, yes, one of the weaker hotels in the chain. for all the love they show the late Bill Harrah, you'd think they'd have a better property in Vegas.

They market to Middle America, older folks. They do marketing very well, but for the average hobbyist, one of the last places they'd want to stay at while visiting here.

If you live in Chicagoland and play at Horseshoe in Hammond or Harrah's Joliet, you'll get cross marketing offers from their Vegas properties. They'll show up in next 60 days. Better to wait for those if you have the option.
