Room Keys

My experience is that hotels change their key styles.  You are taking the chance that the one you show them is not a current style.  Also, security at some hotels will scan them to check for validity.

Saw a twitter post that a provider purchased room keys on eBay for certain hotels to show to security to access elevators... Recommend or...? Any experience with this (ladies or gents)?

Hotels change the color/design/picture on their magnetic room key cards at regular intervals, usually about every 2 weeks.

If you were to show one that is out of date to a hotel security guard, he/she would know for sure that you were not a registered guess at the hotel at that particular time.

The Aria changes the keys about every month or two, same with the Bellagio. One day I check it out on EBay and sure enough I saw them going for about 5 bucks. But be careful, if you get caught by security and after they determine what you were doing with it, you could be banned from that hotels and it chains...I use them to skip from pool to pool, but shhhh......
