Both Uber and Lyft offer great services in Las Vegas.  A lot of drivers actually work for both companies.  Pickups are usually quick and service is friendly.  Many of the hotels have designated pickup locations for ridesharing now which makes it easy to meet your driver.  Lyft allows you to tip through the app, where Uber doesn't, although I heard on the news they will change that soon.  I always give my Uber drivers a cash tip anyway

I haven't tried Lawry's yet but have heard good things.  Would love to join you if you were interested.  :)

I will only be in Vegas for a 2 night stay (End of July). Of course I will be seeking company.

My question is  
Which option is the best for getting from Airport to Luxor and back to airport?

With a possible trip to Lawry's (or wherever my company wants to go for lunch or dinner)?

I know Uber is around but I have also heard good things about Lyft (especially in Vegas).  

Any recommendations.

FYI: I have never used lyft or Uber before (normally rent a car in Vegas)

We used both last October and prices were half of what the cabs were and the cars were cleaner.

because their app allows you to tip the driver, while Uber doesn't have that option. If I tip a taxi driver, I don't see why don't do the same with ride share.  
BTW, I'd love to be your naughty dinner date...

I appreciate all of your information, very helpful and eases my apprehension over using Uber or Lyft.

Lawry's is great  - they specialize on Prime Rib and do it the best. Also their Yorkshire pudding is amazing.
